Surrounded by rejuvenated postindustrial architecture, The Edwards is at the centre of Newcastle West’s revival, and they help it along by being a community (the coffee, using local roasters Suspension Espresso beans, is darn good) and artistic focal point (they host an artist in residence scheme). The Edwards also just have downright awesome food and drink. Whether starting your day on granola with whipped ricotta and burnt fig, chowing down on a Reuben sandwich or whitebait fritters for lunch, enjoying an after-work drink close to Newcastle’s CBD or meeting friends to share a 12-hour-braised Australian lamb on the bone for dinner, The Edwards have all bases covered.
