Tucked away down a little side alley right in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, The Grasshopper Bar is one of the city’s quirkiest ventures, decorated with mismatched vintage furniture and boasting a speakeasy vibe. Whether its for food or drinks, The Grasshopper Bar is a popular choice, offering a menu of pan-Asian cuisine and small bar snacks. You’ll find The Grasshopper bar on Temperance Lane – book a table now then hop on over!
One of Sydney’s first small bars, The Grasshopper Bar is a favourite among the city’s after-work drinking crowd and the perfect place to kick off a night out on the weekend with its vintage-inspired furniture and old records serving as decorations, making it one of Sydney CBD’s hippest haunts. In the restaurant upstairs you could tuck into some cumin and Sichuan pepper-spiced lamb served with green shallots and pancakes, stir-fried prawns with lotus root and green tea or pumpkin gnocchi with sauteed greens and scallops.
Downstairs the cosy bar offers small snacks, the perfect accompaniment to your cocktail served in a repurposed jam jar. One of the creative concoctions on offer includes the Charlie Chaplin, a mouthwatering mix of sloe gin, apricot brandy and fresh lime, and those with a sweet tooth will love the Dark Choc Old Fashioned with Bulleit bourbon, dark chocolate liquor, Aztec choc bitters, caramel and orange. Situated down Temperance Lane in the CBD, The Grasshopper Bar may be hard to find but it's definitely worth the effort. Spaces are limited though, so make a reservation in advance to avoid
Nice small bar, great service and excellent food. We where looked after by the very attentive staff, and sampled couple of their cocktails. But the food was the stand out for us, delicious!! Would definitely do again.
Fabulous experience. The food was fantastic and the service really good. Location was close to public transport in the middle of the city. Will definitely go back and bring friends!
Very nice restaurant, lovely decor and delicious food. Though it should be said that the service was a bit slow, it was definitely well worth the wait
