The only thing better than one delicious meatball is two delicious meatballs (or maybe three – watch this space for a third outgrowth from the popular pair), and Perth residents have exactly that on their hands thanks to the The Meatball Bar brothers. Nestled comfortably enough and almost side by side in Mount Lawley and here in Leederville, jostling with a host of other restaurant options at the busy strip along Oxford Street and Newcastle Street. If you like to roll in an international way, then The Meatball Bar is a place you need to pocket swiftly, with regulars from the so-called Ballers Club laying their hands on tables as if they were Faberge eggs, reason being chiefly the well-rounded menu... Salivating yet? Read on, or simply book a ball now!
There are Italian restaurants in Perth, and then there is The Meatball Bar. They have two locations in central Perth – one in Leederville, one in Mount Lawley – and across both of them, they offer one dish, done in more ways than you could ever imagine. As you might imagine, their speciality is meatballs, and the myriad ways that they can be prepared will astound you. Along with the classic Italian meatballs – beef and pork, slow cooked in a Napoli sauce for 12 hours and topped with parmesan, basil and pesto – one can pick up Wagyu beef with Calabrese sausage, bacon-wrapped chicken with cheddar and sweetcorn or wild mushroom and pecorino arancini. Take a trip to Beaufort Street to try them all.
That is only the tip of the iceberg as far as the meatball options go. The Meatball Bar is an Italian restaurant with an international edge, offering classic dishes from around the world in meatball form. There are harissa lamb meatballs with roasted almonds, raisins and yoghurt, Southern-style buttermilk chicken meatballs with a jalapeno slaw and peanut sauce satay meatballs made from a chicken pork mix, served Malaysian style with pineapple, coriander and rice. Pay The Meatball Bar a visit on Beaufort Street for an Italian restaurant in Mount Lawley to remember.
First visit to The Meatball Bar on the request of our daughter for her 23rd birthday. We were pleasantly surprised, on our arrival we were given a warm welcome by the owner Sal. The menu was explained to us as we had never been before. We ordered drinks & our daughter who's birthday it was was given a complimenary cocktail, so that was a great start to the evening :-) The food was delicous and beautifully presented and incredibly filling. Would definately recommend this establishment for terrific food, friendly and efficient service and value for money.
Great portion sizes and the food tasted amazing. Service was prompt and welcoming, atmosphere was positive, lots of people dining inside and out. Must also mention the fabulous cocktails!
Fantastic Food - Staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks were reasonably priced and food was reasonably priced. Very filling though - be warned. Manager Sam was very accommodating. Definitely going back there again.
We had a wonderful meal; the food was very tasty, the staff there were very attentive. I have already recommended the place to colleagues & friends,
The food and service was great. Only a couple of downfalls: the espresso martini i ordered was pretty ordinary and i was unsure if there was any alcohol in it at all; there was also a lot of froth on it from the shaking, which was disappointing. I ordered a lychee martini after dinner and that was absolutely on point! So got a few points back there, but it would have been better if both of the drinks were up to scratch. The reason for the score of 4 is the lighting. Extremely bright down lights were beaming down on us, which put a damper on the atmosphere/vibe of the place. We asked if we could move to a different table, but due to being a Saturday night, they were unable to accomodate. In the scope of things, it is minor and didn't totally ruin our dining experience, but having spotlights on you does kill the ambience of the restaurant. It's a simple fix, so hopefully management can change up the light globes to create that full circle dining experience (unless it is a tactic to turn over tables quickly for the next reservation - which some restaurants do actually do)
Meatball bar has amazing food and awesome cocktails. Last time I sat outside and we had one waitress who was amazing. This time we had a table by the bar and felt like every waiter checked our table every minute to check if we were ready to order, had finished our meals or needed water. It was very good service but was a bit much when we were trying to relax and chat. The owner was very lovely and he made sure we were taken care of but the constant checking if we had finished our meals felt a bit much. Overall it is my favourite restaurant and has the best service but we might sit a bit further from the bar next time.
This was the first time to the Meatball Bar for my friends and I and there were some hits and misses. First of all the crumbed mac and cheese balls were outstanding and the other crumbed balls were very tasty and hot but all of the meat balls were very lukewarm making them not so enjoyable. The staff were very friendly but out waitress forget to put our sides order in so we got those after the meatballs making them not so enjoyable to eat a plate of vegetables without the meatballs to go with them. She acknowledged she forgot when paying but it would have made all the difference if she came to the table and admitted this to us knowing that we had to ask where our sides were two times.
The food here was delicious and very good quality and prompt service. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Only let down was the drinks service - took almost half an hour from ordering for the drinks (cocktails) for them to arrive and they were very poorly presented and spilled and didn’t taste very good compared to previous visits. A big let down as they are quite pricey and normally have been worth paying for. I actually didn’t even want to finish mine and wanted to send them back but we ended up just cutting the night short after finishing the meal. There were also a lot of flies in the restaurant due to all the doors and windows being open.
4 friends and I had lunch. I had the sticky bourbon meatballs which were excellent. Others tried the 10 ball special where you got a variety. Consensus was all balls were really nice, except no one really liked the pumpkin ones. I personally was not a fan of the waffle chips, although others thought they were ok. Call me old fashioned but I like a chip to be just a nice crunchy regular type chip. The chip dipping sauce was really good though. We shared a cheese platter, which was quite generous in size and also very good cheese selection. None of us could fit in sweets. The service and wait staff were great. I will definitely go back again.
Shared three entrees with a friend... the mac n cheese balls, the chorizo potato and sundried tomato croquettes and the buttermilk chicken balls.... all excellent. The waffle fries are really good too. My After 8 (choc-mint) cocktail was too weak for my taste but my friend liked her ginger beer. The desserts were quite nice... the lemoncello brulee with a shot of the liqueur was the winner....the Reece's cannoli was average...more flavour needed in the cannoli filling but the peanut ice cream was lovely. Service was wonderful...really friendly and attentive waitress. Will definitely be back.
