Further Information

Traditionally, Japanese cuisine means many small plates of extremely fresh food, served with style and grace, then scattered around a large table to be enjoyed with family and friends – it’s about high quality ingredients being prepared using simple techniques. At Tokyo Teppanyaki, all of this is exactly what you’ll get. This true highlight of South Yarra and, indeed, of Melbourne, is one that simply cannot be missed. It is so far from being your average restaurant – at Tokyo Teppanyaki, diners can expect a complete evening of culinary entertainment in the way of talented, knowledgeable chefs barbecuing all food right at the table. This is Japanese eating that’s exciting and bold, and you can find it all on Chapel Street.

In terms of what you can eat, the menus at Tokyo Teppanyaki are diverse and interesting. There are set menus assembled by the master chefs themselves, paid per head and a great way to sample a bit of everything, or, if you know exactly what you want, the a la carte offers premium quality meat fillets, seafood and vegetarian specials, all served with the finest seasonal sides. When all decisions are made, all you have to do it sit back and enjoy the spectacle as the chefs chop, toss, slice and juggle your food to perfection. You won’t find anywhere else like this in South Yarra, and Tokyo Teppanyaki is beginning to make a name for itself right across Melbourne, too. It’s Japanese cuisine at its best, and it’s popular, so reserve your table now!

The food was delicious and the chef was entertaining - will definitely go back! The place was pretty noisy though so don't expect a quiet dinner at TT 😊

We had a great time at Tokyo Teppanyaki. My son really enjoyed his 13th birthday and the spectacle of the food preparation. Our chef, Hong, was excellent and it was fun to watch him prepare our food fresh off the hot plate in front of us. The only issue was the cost. It can be expensive for what it is when you have a larger party of diners.

Food and service were both great and everyone friendly. I just think it's expensive for what you get. Very entertaining night would go back again

They have lost their theatre which made their prices slightly more acceptable. Too expensive in terms of the quality of the food and the service. Won't be going again.

Menu was over-priced and the food was average. The entertainment which is 'factored-in' to your bill was not very entertaining at all and the restaurant lacked atmosphere.
