Previous visits have been great - food & service. Service repeatedly inattentive and poor throughout our dinner tonight. Emptied plates left uncleared on our table throughout the meal. Apparently totally disinterested waiter, who apparently was not supervised.

The eye fillet steak, done medium rare, was delicious. It's served in an excellent sauce with mixed vegetables. The pancake dessert was disappointing - the pancakes were very dry, although they were served with vanilla ice cream. We had to signal the wait staff every time we wanted their assistance.

When you go to a good restaurant like Zen, you realise that theirs is superior sushi/sashimi. This time a friend and I ate there before dashing to opera at Hawthorn Arts Centre. Their speed, service and food was fabulous. I previously have had a party of 30 people there and the staff's help organising the menu, and the food and service on the night made the party stressfree, so I could enjoy my guests' company. As a restaurant it is one of my staples as it's guaranteed I will always enjoy my time there.

Went for dinner we had a group of 10 seated upstairs in our own private room which was lovely. The food was just superb very fresh and delicious and the service was outstanding. I love Japanese food and after visiting Japan recently my standards increased, Zen certainly met those expectations and more. Definitely recommend Zen.

Haven’t been to Zen for 4 months or so. Went tonight for my birthday - and had a great time and great meal. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was up to the usual good standard. It was quieter than usual being a Monday night. Zen is a high quality local Japanese restaurant that I can highly recommend.

I’ve been to Zen restaurant a few times for dinner and it is always delicious, comfortable and the service is excellent. It’s just such a nice welcoming place. Today was a hot day and it was nice and cool in the aircon.

We all enjoyed a splendid meal. Food and service were of a high standard. Not our first visit and we were not disappointed once again! We will certainly return and bring our friends with us. Only negative was the music was certainly a little loud for comfortable conversation over dinner.
