Only a truly seasonal selection would be able to rightly find its way onto the menu at a restaurant set in such an environment as that of the Albert River Wines vineyard. The wines produced here are some of the finest in Australia, winning multiple awards for their commitment to premium vintages and authentic Queensland provenance. At the vineyards location along Mundoolun Connection Road at the foot of Tamborine Mountain, easily reached from Brisbane or the Gold Coast, you can sample these wines at cellar door tastings, but many gourmets come exclusively to dine at Albert River Wines’ superb restaurant. Daytrippers can indulge in Devonshire teas or platters to share like the chef’s selection of Australian cheeses with Albert River’s own Devash honey, or go the whole hog with entrees, mains, and desserts that bring together the best of local produce in dishes that epitomise modern Australian cuisine.
A highlight at Albert River Wines is the two- and three-course menu, complete with wine-pairing suggestions. Begin with chilled Asian vermicelli salad or crispy duck rolls before moving on veal scaloppine matched with Poinciana red, almond and coconut-crusted barramundi matched with a semillon sauvignon blanc, or the vegetarian beetroot risotto made with locally grown asparagus matched with a sparkling white wine. To finish, diners are recommended the legendary chilli chocolate creme brulee, or a simple trio of sorbet to cleanse the palate. If you do decide to make your way from the Gold Coast, Brisbane, or elsewhere in the state or country to host that big birthday bash, wedding, anniversary dinner or function at Albert River Wines, there are many beautiful spots to choose from: two garden gazebos, a restored estate chapel, in among the vines themselves, or indoors in the Auchenflower House ballroom adjacent to the restaurant, on the Tamborine House verandah, or out on the new Vineyard Deck.
