Great service from Ann and the staff. Food was generally of a high quality however the xiaolong bao is not as good as cheaper places and the beggar's chicken was on the dry side.
Been going there for years, we haven’t been there for 5 years, the food was very average, service ok. won’t be going back.
Food and service was fantastic. We will becoming back to savour the special dishes.
Excellent food with attentive friendly service. What more could you want?
Great food, excellent service. Perfect quick break before the theatre. Thanks you, we will be back soon
Fantastic food and Ann and Andy really looked after us in the private room with great service. They did everything they could to make our group night special.
It was a great night out, will return soon, all of us will
We explained that we were off to the theatre and received prompt and efficient service. Our rapid meal was fresh and tasty.
The atmosphere was appropriate, the food delicious and the service attentive
We had a nice table near the window with plenty of space. The waiter suggested that he could choose our food and it was the best thing ever. All the courses were amazing but specially the zucchini flowers filled with minced pork and Peking duck pancakes. A wonderful experience and meal.
The food was amazing and the staff were fantastic. Highly recommend.
Awesome food and amazing staff , a favourite restaurant of ours
We had a wonderful meal at Bamboo House. The staff were very attentive and enjoyed some banter. Unfortunately we found it a little noisy and having older parents with us it was a little difficult to communicate. But that said we had a great time out at Bamboo House and would go there again.
Everything was perfect - food, service and setting. Only (minor) let down was the pork in the sweet and sour pork dish - a bit too fatty. Highly recommend.
Great food...great service. Would highly recommend for a bite to eat
A business meeting held confidentially with great food and wine served discreetly ..thanks
Recently being recommended to Bamboo House by a friend, I decided to take a business associate who’s favourite food is Chinese food. BRILLIANT IDEA
The food was amazing and the night was made extra special by the attentive and friendly service of the staff. Their singing of Happy Birthday capped off a wonderful evening.
Quality food, private room for table of 10 was brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Service was good. Toothfish a real highlight of meal along with Peking duck.
Second visit in ten years, and the standard hasn't changed. Very good good, but the stir fried mixed veggies, in particular the baby bok choy had sand in it. Only drawback. The Peking duck was fantastic, probably the best in Melbourne. Alan our waiter was great and serviced our table greatly. Will definitely be back for more succulent Peking duck. Thank you Bamboo house.
My wife and I visited for meal and we cannot say good enough comments on the meal, service and atmosphere it was all great and we will be back.
Bamboo House is a fantastic little Chinese restaurant full of character. The food is Fantastic as always and the customer service is on point. You can’t go wrong here.
Absolutely Awsome service, even better food!!!!will be back for sure, lovely birthday gesture for my partner, great atmosphere, good vibe, highly recommend this restaurant to any one in Melbourne, you wont be dissapointed!!
I found this restaurant by a google search of 'best dumplings in Melbourne'. When I arrived with my family, the outside of the restaurant didnt blow me away. But when you get inside, its a really lovely restaurant. The BEST PART is the food and the service - I would say its one of the best chinese restaurants in Melbourne, just on food and service! It may not have the flashiness of Silks at Crown, but if you want an amazing chinese meal and world class service - I would highly recommend Bamboo House. We will be back!
The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is vibrant and engaging and the staff are absolutely amazing. You will never be disappointed at Bamboo House. The Sichuan Crispy Duck is to die for...
the ginger chicken is really tasteless and dry.the rest is just so so.not very authentic chinese food.wont go back again.but the environment is quite and service is ok
Noisy but vibrant atmosphere and Ann found us a more quiet table. Excellent food with courses delivered spaced out as we requested. Service with a genuine smile from everyone. Great Night for table of 4 gentlemen.
Beautiful food and great service. The waiters are very attentive. We eat here everytime we are in Melbourne and have been doing so for many years. Highly recommend.
Truly excellent food and good service but don't go for a quiet lunch on a Friday. It was very busy and extremely noisy. We had only been there before the dinner which was a more sedate affair.
Bamboo House has consistently great food and good service. We had the Peking Duck, spicy lamb cutlet and fried calamari last night and they were excellent. I would go back there again anytime.
This restaurant is first class. Pleasant surrounds in the heart of China Town. Staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating. We celebrated my wife’s birthday with a booking st 7.15pm. Seven of us enjoyed a magnificent meal comprising a number of entrees and mains. The food was absolutely delicious and clearly of the highest quality. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. Our various courses were served at just the right intervals. We were not rushed as often happens with restaurants that operate on strict two time sittings. We left around 10.30pm. Great meal. Squizito
the best Chinese food in Melbourne with excellent service & great atmosphere we look forward to eating here often & booking will save any disappointment
Nice ambience, tables nicely spaced from each other. Reception and staff service very friendly, attentive without being over bearing. Good first impressions. Menu was extensive enough, and what made me go to try this restaurant me was the Sichuan Tea Smoked duck which is one of my top favourite dish that I have enjoyed every time I had it while working & living in China for almost 30 years. This dish at Bamboo House was exactly spot on, in taste and texture, accompanied by generous number of freshly steamed buns to go with it. The other dish that was also a standout was the entree of Shanghai style smoked fish. Again spot on as one would find in Shanghai. Our (2 of us) third course was braised mushroom w crab meat. While this was also delicately done, I had expected a variety of mushrooms but instead only button mushrooms, and not enough of crab meat (I think it was canned crab meat). It was tasty enough but paled in comparison to the first two abovementioned dishes. Prices were a bit steep but for the overall experience and quality & taste of dishes that are not normally offered in most places, it’s worth to go for that special occasion. For the 3 course meal with tea and rice, the bill came to $99.
Fantastic food. Staff are also fantastic. Only reason for not giving a 6 is because I couldn’t get the dessert I would normally have. Highly recommended.
Great service- staff moved us on request to a quieter table. Excellent food. Dumplings and Peking duck were fantastic. Restaurant is busy - would recommend to book.
Great food. Return visit. Menu has not been a disappointment. Love the options available. Love pork sang Choy bai & salt & pepper prawns. Great service.
Excellent service, great food in a restaurant with genuine ambiance. Wine list, while not comprehensive, is very reasonably priced. Convenient location close to many CBD hotels.
The food was excellent and the service as well have been here b4 absolutely loved it couldn’t fault it Will be back highly recommended will definitely be back
This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Melbourne – I have been going here for over 30 years. Last night, in our party of three, the food itself was as good as ever – it never varies. However, on this busy Friday evening the service, although very efficient, was somewhat brusque. Instead of the expected careful plating and delivery of food to our table, I felt that everything was rushed. And the waiter mistook one of our orders (probably partly my fault) by delivering three enormous plates of a beef dish, when we expected one plate to share. This has never happened before. So the message is: be very specific with your ordering and all will be well.
Hasn’t changed in 30 years but still has the best duck in town. Great value proposition compared to other authentic chnese establisments in Melbourne. Long may it stay the same.
