Bok Choy restaurant in Brighton used to be a favourite place for my husband and I for special occasions. Recently my husband passed and our family went there as part of the celebration of his life. I can’t believe how much this restaurant has deteriorated since we were there last. The food was very average at best, compared to what we had experienced in the past. The food was poorly presented, the prawns were small, the fillet steak was just a few balls of chewy beef and we left hungry after our so called banquet. It used to be really something special. The staff used to be friendly and engaging but not this time. They were clinical and not engaged, creating an environment that was very sterile. The biggest shock came at the end of the evening when we were charged $54 corkage for three bottles of wine, even though a number of guests on our table order drinks from their menu. This is outrageous. We tried to question this but management weren’t interested in assisting us at such a difficult and sensitive time. They were only interested in the money. It’s sad to see a restaurant deteriorate so much in recent times but we will never go back there. We don’t mind paying a higher price for quality food and service, but you won’t get that at this Chinese restaurant.

Food is always very good....high quality Chinese. Our waiter, whilst quite satisfactory, could have showed more interest and enthusiasm in his customers.

Really nice ambience ,food was great .Cantonese sauce tasted like was out of a bottle of tomato sauce very poor 😕

First visit . No loud music . Tables not too close . Every thing we like when eating out.Loved the orange duck .

Superb family lunch at Bok Choy where food and service was impeccable- we chose the supreme banquet which was absolutely delicious. Thank you to staff for wonderful celebration. We will definitely be back.

As always the food is fabulous. We felt a little rushed however.

Unfortunately the staff were extremely unfriendly and the restaurant was freezing cold. It’s a shame as the food was very good. We would not return to dine in the restaurant.

Was a lunch visit on a Friday, no atmosphere, don’t think I order right stuff either

Great service, lovely atmosphere and good quality food. Great for a special occasion.

We got there at 6pm and it was quiet. Within an hour, it was pumping on a Monday night. It was noisy, but we could hear ourselves fine, and the service and food are excellent, so we keep going back.

We have been wanting to come here for a long time and boy did it not disappoint! This is now my new favourite, the food was to die for, and. Very wide menu option, and the wine list is very Extensive and had some great choices. Good value for money we hade the banquet tasting and the serves were generous and we left full. The service was five star and we were made to feel like VIPs. Highly recommended

The food was delicious and the service was very good. The roasted duck was great. There was no issue requesting to have the food prepared with no added MSG. After dinner they offer various types of coffees, eg cappuccino, long black etc... quite a bonus for a Chinese restaurant. Whilst the prices are not cheap the quality of the food was very good. Regarding the ambience of the restaurant, there are some repairs to the ceiling needed. It looks like this is in progress as there are 2 large poles currently holding up the ceiling. There was quite a lot of noise from other customers, and the accoustics in the room were such that the noise wasn't absorbed by the furnishings. It was hard to have a conversation over the noise. When the other customers left it was much more peaceful. We were there till around 8:30 on a sunday evening and the restaurant had emptied out significantly. Our party felt that they were wanting us to leave...

Bok Choy has rarely had a bad day and today everything was Excellent. It's not cheap, but hey, you get what you pay for! The four of us agreed everything was even better than usual last night. Good crowd on a Sunday night and that speaks volumes.

Very, very nice birthday lunch - not many diners and restaurant was quite cold, especially at first. Food great, we did have all our favourites, yum char style (entrees). The decor is excellent and the service very, very good as usual. We've been going to Bok Choy for 20years and will continue - especially as there's now a dearth of Chinese restaurants in Bayside - and no others at this standard.
