The Staff were lovely and friendly and made the effort to make our evening enjoyable. The food was really great and the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion.
A great special occasion restaurant. Waiters helpful and food all delicious! We had antipasto, entrees, main & dessert and it was about $150 a head for food.
Ambiance, service, culinary mastery. It was simply a fantastic food experience. Cecconi's is now my go to venue when I want to host a special event.
Absolutely delicious dinner, beautiful service, excellent decor. My favourite was the pappardelle with beef ragu as well as the chocolate pudding. Highly recommended for your next celebration.
My wife and I dined here on Friday 18/11. After a slow start (wanted to order a beer but couldn't catch the eye of staff) wait staff were quite good. Friendly, patient and appeared knowledgeable about the food and wine. I had the soup of the day which was duck consommé with veal and port tortellini. Beautiful consommé and tasty pasta. My wife had the scallops which were beautifully cooked and presented - she tells me they were good but didn't offer me one! For mains I had the lamb which was very good. Lamb was done two ways, braised and oven roasted (looked like back strap). Very tasty. My wife had the rib eye which was cooked as ordered (Medium Rare), tender and tasty. She was happy. We both had the dessert tasting plates to finish. They were very good, consisting of some poached fruit with quenelle of gelati, a coffee cup with foam and mousse with a milk icecream and a piece of olive cake. Overall we were happy and would go again. Not a cheap night but you know that already.
We arrived early as we couldn't find a cocktail bar before hand. Went to the bar at cecconis, had to stand at the bar waiting for our drinks for about 8 minutes. We sat outside waiting for our table. Our waitress appeared to have been getting 'told off' by the head waitress before she came to our table, which seemed to put her in a rushed, somewhat annoyed mood. The service seemed rushed and as if we were an inconvenience. The food was delicious but the service left a sour taste in my mouth. No pun intended. At the end of the night we were contemplating dessert, I said to my wife if the waitress comes over soon we'll get dessert otherwise we will be waiting all night. Suffice to say, she was no where to be seen so we asked for the bill. After we had paid and had been siting for a good 5 minutes getting ready to leave the waitress finally came up asking if we wanted dessert.... We did about 20 mins ago love. Great restaurant with exceptional food. Was let down a bit by the waitress/ service.
One of the most beautiful dinners we have ever had! The barman made us a couple of dirty martini's as we waited at the bar for our table (9pm booking was perfect for us) and then we moved to a very comfy table, where I got to sit on the banquette seating. We shared all our dishes and the wait staff went above and beyond to look after us and suggest wines. Just fantastic. As we left the kitchen staff and barman waved us goodbye. We'll be back :)
The service was great as soon as we walked in, the manager at the front desk was very friendly as was our wait staff when we sat down. It was all good to that point. I was still swallowing my last mouthful of our entrees when they swooped in and swapped the plates with our mains. I literally was still finishing my mouthful. All within half an hour of us walking in. Then the same with the dessert menu after our main plates were taken, which I might add, I didn't finish because it was rushed. Chose not to have desert. I was expecting a lovely dinner for our wedding anniversary but felt hurried and we were in/out in just over an hour. Meh...
Cecconi's was terrific in every sense. We arrived slightly early and were seated with pre-dinner drink ordered in no time! We shared a selection of entrees and then selected our own mains! My prawn risotto was delicious as were the other mains of papparedelle and gnocchi. A lovely glass of chardonnay and we were on our way to a show, with a lovely meal experience to build upon for the evening! Cecconi's never disappoints!
After initial mishap with booking, staff absolutely fantastic. They made us feel welcome and I'm sure they gave us the best seats in the house. We were a group of six, celebrating a birthday. The food that evening was a celebration of their own 10th birthday. So felt lucky that not only celebrating our friends birthday but the restaurants. The food was to its usual fantastic standard. The self saucing chocolate pudding just melted in your mouth. Cecconi's is definitely a must on my dining list in Melbourne.
Ceconnis is one of only a few restaurants that offer a freindly relaxed hassle free environment with high quality engaging service. It's not noisy and you can take your time. Unlike most of the more recent Flinders Lane restaurants, Cecconis don't push their customers so they can to get another two or three sittings for the night. Cecconis is our favourite restaurant because we feel good every time we are there.
I had a lovely time catching up with a friend for a birthday celebration. The food was delicious and the restaurant had an elegant but relaxed atmosphere. We had an early sitting and they were very accomodating to not rush us out the door on my special evening. Thank you Cecconi's for the great experience, I will definitely be back!
Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Lovely setting. I had the quail and seafood linguini and my fiancé had the quail and rabbit gnocchi. All of it was amazingly cooked. The quil was delightful, rabbit is usually hard to cook, but this one just fell apart in your mouth. The linguini was cooked to perfection. And dessert just topped everything off nicely.
Lovely restaurant, food great but they lost our mains order, which meant long wait between entree and main Also they brought the wrong wine to the table. No offer of any compensation for mistakes.As we had ordered wine by the glass the offer of a glass of wine each; on the the house while we continued to wait for mains after being informed our order had been lost would have been appreciated
From the moment we walked in we were looked after very well by the waitress, the service was fantastic. They were very knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations. The food was fantastic couldn't fault it. Two waitresses even came out and sung happy birthday to my girlfriend with her dessert. Can't wait to go back 👌
It was my birthday celebration and I chose Cecconi's because I had heard good reviews about it. I am pleased to say that our dining experience was excellent and most importantly everyone of us concurred that the meals were most enjoyable. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied and happy. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good food, good wine and services.
The food, wine and room was delicious but service was disjointed. Our entrees arrived about 5 minutes after ordering them which was disappointing and we had to ask them not to bring the mains as quickly. Dessert also came very fast and had clearly been pre made (down to the gelato quenelles). Timing/flow needs to be perfect when your mains are $50. An expensive bottle of wine was also poured out far too regularly as well. Wanted to love it but didn't!
Awesome food, service and ambience. Anna, Mark and team really know there food and their service is just first class. Chef Maurice Espisito's flair with Italian food especially seafood is amazing and I just had the first of the season Tasmanian truffles in his amazing risotto. A must go restaurant in my view
Wonderful night at Cecconi's: great food, great service and good atmosphere. We shared 3 entrees, calamari, beef carpaccio and seared tuna, and than as main course we had pork fillet and barramundi fillet. All delicious, but I have to say that the tuna and the pork with chestnuts puree were absolutely spot on!
We love to have an opportunity to visit Cecconi's, we spent a lovely evening with two wonderful friends who had not visited your restaurant before, they loved everything about it, the food was fabulous, as always, the ambience was great, your wait staff were very attentive, thank you for a great evening.
Cecconi's Flinders Lane was terrific for lunch with delicious Italian food, great service and beautiful decor. Will be returning in the near future. Loved it.
A hidden jewel atop Flinders Lane, this Italian classic has lost none of its charm, nor its capacity to churn out delicious dishes. The carpaccio was sublime, the arancini a flavour explosion and the duck for main only made way for the sorbetto to finish the meal perfectly.
Loved it. Food and service was amazing. Unobtrusive staff made sure we had everything we needed without interrupting the flow of conversation at all. Food was second to none. Amazing fresh pasta. All of my guests commented on both food and service similarly. Highly recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed my family birthday dinner at Cecconis. Out table was in a marvellous spot - a round table for 6, in the corner (especially good for the 2 'senior' members of our party who do not hear so well. Attentive and unobtrusive service and excellent food and wine. Well done Cecconis!
Cecconi's presents beautifully cooked food, with great ambience and attentive service. All aspects of this restaurant are easy to enjoy. They will always go out their way to make this a place which you will want to go back to time and time again.
To be honest, I expected more for the money we spent. The food quality was variable. The slow cooked rabbit saddle was excellent, however my wife's Salmon was over cooked. Similarly the deserts and drinks were of mixed quality. Our sparkling wine was excellent, but our Tuscan Red was full of sediment and not really what you would expect from a $120 bottle of wine. Overall our experience was good, but not great. I would expect more when spending $150 per head for a three course meal.
The staff are wonderful and the food is absolutely delicious. Try the specials, especially the octopus if it's on, it's lovely. The service is impeccable, staff are never intrusive, but they're there for drinks and service quietly and quickly. It is pricey, but for a special night it, go, at least once.
The seafood linguine is heaven in a bowl and the service was so fast and the waiter was so friendly even the other customers were so friendly (they recommended the linguine) but 100% going back I have non stop cravings for the linguine!!!!!!
Great restaurant serving delicious food at reasonable prices for a high quality restaurant. Better than Vu Du Monde in my opinion both in the quality of the food and value for money. Cosimo our waiter was fantastic and knowledgeable. A great experience! Elio
Our experience at Cecconi's Flinders Lane was exceptional. Professional and friendly service; food was tastefully presented and full of flavour; ambience was intimate and un-intrusive.
Food was good. Service was good. Atmosphere was nice. If I had to nitpick then I would say waiters needs to slow down a bit when taking away dishes and also naming the dish when putting it on the table. Not just slap it on the table and walk away.
The food was amazing, the pasta was sensational. Desert was a highlight... The chocolate pudding was to die for. The service was spot on and the restraunt truly lived up to our expectations. Thank you cecconi's for a wonderful dining experience.
It's quite a few years since dinning at Cecconi's(no excuse) having originally started dinning with Olympia when her restaurant was located in St. Kilda. Nothings changed in all that time -- still great. Always good to meet up with Anna again.
A classic Melbourne institution did not disappoint - the setting, food, staff and wine were all fantastic. I opted for the Morton Bug Spaghettini for starters and then opted for the Grain fed Scotch Fillet which was beautifully cooked (rare) with a fantastic rich smokey crust - magnificent!
As always the service was first class and the food was full of flavour and delicious. The ambience of the dining room is enhanced by the open kitchen do you can see the great chef and the whole team
Really wonderful food and staff. Our waitress was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. We went for my birthday and they gave me a happy birthday plate with a truffle. It was a lovely touch and made the whole evening special.
Nice restaurant in classic style settings. Good service except they brought me the wrong pre dinner drink. Food was good but expected better based on reviews. Steak and tuna was slightly overlooked and a bit dry.... More jus, purée etc please. Seemed to be the place to go for a celebration which gave it a nice atmosphere.
This was my first time at Cecconi's and the experience was outstanding. Food is sensational, and the lovely lady who served our table was very knowledgeable about the menu options and was able to provide some excellent advice.
Delicious food. Dessert was amazing. Service is excellent. A very pleasurable experience. When we booked we had told them it was our anniversary and they sent out some delicious truffles saying 'happy anniversary', which was a lovely touch.
We have travelled and eaten extensively in Italy, and Cecconi's is Italy transposed. There is always something new and seasonally inspired on the menu. Tonight it was gnocchi with wild mushroom ragu - sublime. We will be back!!
The atmosphere, food and wine were all very good. Food is classic Italian rather than adventurous. Choices of wine by the glass covered a good range and unusually there was no premium over bottle prices. Service was appropriate, friendly and efficient but a little rushed.
Cecconi's is our favourite restaurant for a special family occasion. The service is always of a friendly high standard and the food is delicious. There is always a great atmosphere in the lovely surrounds of this restaurant.
This restaurant is busy and yet you are treated as if you were the only ones present with great service! Food was wonderful, with a lovely selection of seasonal produce with great Italian cuisine! We'll be back!

Excellent, professional service, delicious food. Hard to beat! I appreciated the wine recommendations, and the seafood bisque special was superb. The John Dory fillets with asparagus were perfect and beautifully presented. Very good coffee to finish.

We had a wonderful meal and experience at Cecconi's. The food was fantastic and wait staff even better. Lively atmosphere but not so loud so as to not be able to carry on a conversation.
Enjoyed a beautiful night at Cecconi's. The Capaccio was one of the best I've had, and the Gnocchi with Duck ragu & Spaghettini with Morton Bay Bugs were equally sublime... Along with the 2009 bottle of Brunello we washed it down with.
