Located in the converted Commonwealth Bank building a block back from Derwent Avenue, Currency Cafe is one of Lindisfarne’s favourite spots for coffee and breakfasts, brunch and lunch, and restaurant-calibre dinners. As well as seasonally changing menus of modern Australian cuisine and cafe classics, Currency Cafe also boasts a great selection of wines to accompany your meal, drawing on Tasmanian and Australian vineyards for a true local character. Pulling in guests from all over Tasmania, spaces at Hobart’s Currency Cafe are limited. To be sure of snagging a table at this hotspot, making a reservation in ahead of time is recommended.
Situated in the heart of Lindisfarne village, and decorated in a farmhouse style with wooden furnishings and white tablecloths, Currency Cafe is the place to go for a rustic dining experience in Hobart. Using the best and freshest of locally-sourced produce, the chef’s create each dish from scratch, and whether it's for breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or a caffeine boost and some homemade cake, Currency Cafe is the go-to place for Lindisfarne locals, as well as with visitors to Tasmania, too. Make your way down to Currency Cafe in the morning for some poached eggs and feta, the big breakfast, or some pancakes topped with blueberry coulis and ice cream.
To incorporate the best of seasonal ingredients, the lunch and dinner menus at Currency Cafe both change regularly, but at the time of writing some of the delicious choices on offer included goats’ cheese truffles, Thai fish cakes and lamb and harissa Spanish meatballs in a Napoli sauce for starters, and hearty mains like herb-crusted fish of the day served with fresh Greek salad, rosemary-salted fat chips and tartare sauce, soy marinated chicken, the vegetable lasagne stack, the pizza of the day, and a chickpea curry. With plenty of choices for vegetarians and gluten-free eaters too, Currency Cafe is a fail-safe choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner in Hobart’s Lindisfarne. You’ll find it located on Hume Street – snap up one of the best tables by booking in advance!
The food and coffee was very, very nice, the pulled pork eggs Benedict was amazing!! The service was prompt and wonderful and the atmosphere was very good as well.
My 3 year old grandson was with me and the staff were very helpful and provided colouring in pictures and pencils. A very happy morning tea
The food was excellent, the staff friendly and the room was warm. It is a small but varied menu with something available to suit most dietary needs.
