Understatedly stylish and a purveyor of modern Australian cuisine and handcrafted cocktails, Dead Ringer is one of Surry Hills’ trendiest new haunts for dining and drinking, located on Bourke Street. With rustic wooden furniture and friendly service, this Sydney restaurant’s neighbourhood vibe makes you feel as if you’re dining at a friends place, even more so when you try the delicious yet unpretentious home-style cuisine on offer. The menu is shaken up regularly but expect to find dishes like spiced lamb ribs served with herb yoghurt, grass-fed Angus sirloin with black garlic mustard and heirloom carrots with pine nuts and tarragon, while on the drinks menu you’ll encounter equally as appetising choices ranging from cocktails like the Noble Maid (a combination of pisco, cucumber, lime and botrytis) to an array of wines, craft beers and ciders.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Dead Ringer, we started off in the front bar and had a cocktail each from their interesting list before heading to our booth in the restaurant area. Or waiter was very friendly and knew the menu inside out, you could tell that he really rated the food and had a couple of great recommendations of things to try together that we would never have thought of. We had a bottle of an Australian Tempranillo that I thought was excellent value too. We will be back!
Wonderful food and fantastic service! Food portions are the perfect size! Love the cocktails too;)
