EL Mexicano - Hyde Park

We had a show to go to and it was nice to find EL Mexicano open at a convenient time. Our first visit and will be returning. The food is excellent with big servings served promptly by attentive and helpful staff.

Told we had to order food and drinks immediately and only had one hour for dining. Absolutely appalling.

Just a very relaxed yummy experience thank you. Lots to choose from the menu. My two young grandchildren loved the fish and mex chips. Also loved the sombreros available for a photo opportunity. And the free serve of churros as it was Valentine's day

We booked a table and when we arrived we were told the table was not available but we could have another table for 1 hour

orders got mixed up staff were not friendly would not go back there

The food was tasty, but not what I was expecting. The Enchilada was more like a Burrito with a soft flour tortilla instead of the usual baked corn tortilla. Also, one of the servers who was cleaning the next table, over sprayed cleaning spray onto our table getting it on my mobile phone and possibly into my glass of water. The food came out quickly and was tasty. The atmosphere was good, and the prices were decent. 6/10

As a lover of Mexican food I was quite disappointed. The tortilla chips were store bought, there was a lot of fillers in the tacos (I have never had tacos with corn kernels) and the service was not good. We ordered 2 drinks that were never served, they did not offer us coffee or dessert and we were told to leave at 9:30 on a Friday evening. Based on this it is unlikely that we will return

It was great because the food was really good and arrived quickly. The lady who served us was very helpful. It is near where we live so we will come again.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — we tried the Burrito, Chimichanga, and Fajitas, and each dish was outstanding. The staff were warm and welcoming.

Had a late dinner here Friday night as a group of 8. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our main meals, drinks and desserts. Plenty of seating and a great atmosphere.

Lovely food. Good service. Restaurant too cold as we were right by the door which was continually left open. Also, disappointing that the restaurant was so dark that we couldn't see what we were eating! No phone number available.

My only complaint would be that the staff wouldnt shut the front door, it was 6 degrees outside. Sitting 2 metres from the door was rather unpleasant. The food was very tasty though, no complaints there

I took my wife and children to El Mexicano for mothers day, she is originally from North Carolina which has an abundance of excellent Mexican restaurants and this one exceeded her expectations and we will definitely be going back and will spread the word.

Main served while still eating entree. Corn too young to be picked as no proper kernels on it and mains lukewarm and uninteresting.
