Nice place with great vibes in the heart of Glenelg. It is on the busy street with steep staircase to get to the restaurant upstairs. Food quality was good, great service from the wait staff and priced reasonably for a great night out. Might want to avoid if there are mobility concerns.

We ordered Vegan tofu loaded fries for a starter. Had to be returned TWICE! First the chef used cows milk and the second time they used cows milk shredded cheese. The vegan tofu loaded fries arrived at the end of the dinner! Cannot believe that they charged us for them. First and last visit to this restaurant. Paella was not very tasty either, to oily and not at all like a Spanish dish, experience and food very disappointing!

We booked the bottomless lunch. Sat for 40 minutes and didn’t receive any food or drinks so we left. They were understaffed and under prepared. The waitress wasn’t even aware of the brunch deal. It would have cost $78 for 90 minute. Went to another restaurant on Jetty Road and had a bottomless brunch. Cost $60, endless drinks and food arrived within 15 minutes. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Firstly the food is fantastic at El Mexicano. It’s fresh, full of flavour and the staff are so friendly. The problem we had is that the meals on our table came to us at different times so the first person was almost finished their dish by the time the last of us got ours. It’s not a huge deal but when you’re dining as a group (only 4 of us BTW) you really want to be eating together. Maybe it was an exception, but it was our experience.

Great food, great atmosphere. Service was a bit slow but it was a busy night. The gentlemen welcoming guests and checking reservations was not the most welcoming but overall we’ve had a great visit and enjoyed our time.

The staff were amazing, hard working, friendly and super welcoming. Venue very funky. Unfortunately the veggie option was tofu, which we didn't realize until we received our food. Found this quite surprising as we expected the veggie option to be beans especially in a Mexican restaurant! Had this been the case, the food would have been fabulous!

Birthday dinner celebration, enjoyed drinks, starters and mains. Some confusion though regarding their $14 margaritas on a Monday offer- staff stated they were unaware but then advised only 2 drinks available and when shown the advertisement stating all margaritas are $14 on a Monday they then changed the pricing!

Group of 4 all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Great menu choices and good service

Food was delicious and there were many things we want to come back and try. Unfortunately there was a large table of guests next to us that were very very loud with unruly children running wild that took away from the meal. That was not the restaurants fault, we will be back

Fun atmosphere at El Mexicano. Friendly staff. The music is nice but a little loud depending where you sit. Good food choices for people who prefer vegetarian options also delicious cocktails (& mocktails!) plus Mexican hot chocolate perfect on a cold day.

Amazing food amazing service very happy with our dining experience. The staff even came out with hat and maracas for us to sing. Happy birthday to my daughter.

One of our dishes was amazing but the other dish lacked seasoning. It was meant to be medium heat but was so bland and lacked spice. The manager took the the cost of the dish off our bill which was appreciate. Overall our experience was average, didnt feel like we were special.

It was ok. Our booking was for 9 and the table was set for 8. Our order was slightly mixed up. We ordered more as we were still hungry but it took so long we opted for paying and leaving without having it.

Service was bad, mains came out with our entrees, had to go get more water as no one came around. Was waiting at the table to pay but ended up going to the counter. We would’ve got desserts but no one asked us. We wouldn’t recommend dining here.
