Food was ok. The service was friendly but terrible. They forgot to place our order, then brought out the wrong things. The size of the portions were a small. The rice bowl is teeny tiny. Seriously, rice is cheap- they don't need to ration that. I'd order two bowls for one person. But I won't be back as price and service just couldn't balance out the quality and flavour of the dishes. They really need a strong front of house. Disappointing.
The House of Hoi An combines contemporary flair with delicious Vietnamese flavours - the rice paper roles are to die for! Great atmosphere and service - we had a round table in the corner which was great!
Amazing food. Incredible and friendly service. Lovely environment. Good value for money. A really great place for good food and an easy catch up. We'll be back!
Limited menu, but when you like the sound of every dish on there, it really doesn't matter! Great atmosphere, great service and chosen dishes served quickly.
Awful service. At all times needed to try and make eye contact to get the staffs attention. Didn't clear plates from one course had to ask for this to be done when the next course was already on the table. Food just okay nothing special
Great restaurant, the food was delicious and probably came out to quick, staff very friendly the only criticism I have is the parking, there is none.
Great food, we all have different dishes, all tasteful. I like the atmosphere decoration inside and the facade. The only negative point is that we were a bit squished i mean not a lot of space between chairs from the next table. Will come back for sure.
Been to Vietnam 4 times & to 2 of Ms Vy's restaurants in Hoi An late last year & also a couple of years ago & absolutely loved the food. However, this outpost has a long way to go to reach that standard. Pick of the food last week was fabulous fried wontons with crabmeat but then it went down hill. Shrimp & pork rice paper rolls with the peanut sauce was all bland. Wonton noodle soup (a sort of pho without the pho long simmered flavour & condiments to add yourself) was just as bland Finally some terrible tamarind prawns (a few tiny & very chewy overcooked prawns wrapped in some sort of hard coating). The final sin was no 'White Rose Prawn Dumplings' on the menu. This is THE signature dish of Hoi An & available in every restaurant but not available here. I queried this but the waiter just looked at me blankly???? We gave it an extra point for being BYO which meant the wines we brought were better than those on the wine list. Prices were high for the food quality. Suggest if you want great Hoi An food pay the extra & fly to Hoi An.
Delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. We ordered a large range of dishes and each one of them was delicious. Certainly worth crossing the city for.
Food was good but service was lacking . Initially asked to wait outside whilst the previous customers were finishing up . Ushered in 20 minutes after booked time . Little explanation of menu and the Restraunt had run out of a number of the dishes limiting our choice .
Love the food. The place was busy and loud and it didn't help when we had a girls night out behind us. Not a place for conversation.
Wonderful venue , Fantastic Staff and above all best Vietnamese food we have ever had in Melbourne. The Calamari with pork was the standout for all of us
The food was delicious! We enjoyed every course that arrived although timing of the courses wasn’t great. Some had to wait longer for their dishes. There are a lot of pork dishes so those who don’t eat pork have less to choose from. Although I don’t eat pork I am really tempted to come back and taste some coz like I said, the food was DELICIOUS!!
They ran out of sugar prawn sticks and eggplant claypot which was what we wanted so a bit disappointing since it was an 8pm booking.
Fantastic food, just delicious. The cuisine is just like the amazing food we experienced in Vietnam. Thank you for an amazing night- made us feel like we were right back in Hoi An!
Amazing food. Fresh and delish Service good, price really reasonable definitely be back. Only problem if you go late they have run out of a lot of things
Great service. Food was delicious. Would go there again.. loved the interior design : ) would recommend grilled snapper, dumplings and pomelo salad.. keep up the good work.
The food was great, fresh and tasty. What was disappointing is that we were just finishing desert and one of the waiters was trying to rush out out. We had only been there for 90 minutes which I understand we had a two hour sitting. Left a disappointing taste to the evening and unlikely to return based on that treatment.
WE had wanted to try House of Hoi An for a while and we weren't disappointed. Food was fantastic as was the service we will definitely be back.
the food was nice, very tasty, however the proportion wasn't big enough to share between a group of 6. If they could introduce some family size into their menu, it would be perfect.
Food was awesome, atmosphere was fun and the food was amazing the best Vietnamese ive eaten in melbourne by far. So happy i went .
Visited because one of our party had just been to Madame Vy's in Hoi An and loved it. Enjoyed the food immensely, very authentic and good atmosphere. Pick of the bunch was the eggplant and mince pork dish, mushroom clay pot was close second. Definitely going back
best vietnamese ive had in melbourne. cannot wait to go back and have the pork belly and crispy fish. customer service was fantastic also and byo!!
We have actually eaten in the original restaurant in Hoi An in Vietnam and the food here in MLB was just as excellent. Recommend to anyone
This restaurant is fabulous and authentic. The atmosphere and food are just like we were back in Hoi An. We recommend this place for sure.
We were at their sister restaurant in Vietnam . A totally different vibe and far better value . The prices here are way too high for what you get . Won't be back , what a pity as it has so much potential. There's a lot of competition out there offering much better value.
Restaurant was fabulous, exquisite Vietnamese food, well presented, fresh, delightful flavours of fresh herbs. brilliant, loved it. Highly recommend this restaurant, close to Chapel street.
Wonderful ambience, attractive decor. Delightful manager. Food can share, fresh and tasty. Can be BYO. Share the spring rolls, crab wontons, BBQ chicken. Frozen banana ice cream yum.
The wait staff were friendly and efficient and the restaurant itself looked really cool but the food was outstanding. I've been to Morning Glory in Vietnam and House of Hoi An made me want to go back! The sautéed pumpkin was unbelievable, and we also had the tamarind prawns and chicken and lime leaf. Just delicious!
Food was OK we had the beef brisket and it was tough. They rushed us through our dinner we had barely finished the entree and main was served. Staff forgot the baguette which was part of the meal. Service was poor. Caramelised pork was amazing.
Fourth meal at House of Hoi An in the past four weeks. Delicious food. Friendly staff. Favorite dish is fried wonton with crabmeat. Will be back.
We enjoyed Hoi An great authentic Vietnamese food with a very welcoming atmosphere supported by friendly staff and owner with prices you can understand Martin Bade
Was a recommendation from a friend & can't thank them enough.....This place is fantastic, great food, the staff are super.......also value for ur $$$, u must add this one to ur list !!!
Lovely food and staff- next best thing to being in Hoi An. It is quiet and comfortable with lots of food options and some amazing tea.
The food was beautiful, will definitely go back there, they need to improve the wine list though! I have been to Hoi An and it certainly brought back happy memories. I highly recommend this restaurant, loved the decor and the service was excellent too!
Love House of Hoi An! Consistently amazing food and service in a lovely urban setting. Flexible reservation if booking later in the evening. BYO is a bonus.
Best Vietnamese food I've had in Melbourne (outside of Victoria st)! Beautiful fit out, authentic and interesting dishes, and it's byo. The eggplant hotpot with minced pork and the morning glory were amazing. Be aware, there aren't many vegetarian options, you have to love pork (which I do!) and it's more upmarket than your standard BYO. We were very happy with everything ordered. Will be back!
One of my favourite restaurants. Great food and service. I like the jack that it a BYO as well. I Revommend the mince and eggplant dish.
very pleasant place to catch-up with friends and not too loud to talk to each other, the food is as good and fresh as usual!
Absolutely fabulous in every way. The service was amazing very humble, friendly and professional. The food was outstanding our taste buds were treated the most incredible experience. All our senses were stimulated beyond belief, even long after we had finished eating. Exceptional value for money. Without doubt our best meal ever in Melbourne, possibly the world. Amazing. Please take our advice and try it out you won't be disappointed, you will be hooked as a regular!
