Chinese food is a perennial favourite with the public of Melbourne, and for those of them living up in Niddrie, there is only one option worth considering: Jasmine House. Begin your meal on Keilor Road with a selection of starters – sesame toast, pork sui mai, or a whole range of steamed dumplings with various fillings – before moving onto the mains. Bring the your family or your mates and get a whole heap to share: honey chicken, beef in black pepper sauce, sweet & sour pork in batter are local favourites, and vegetarians can pick from the likes of Lo Hon Jai – otherwise known as Buddha’s delight and featuring a variety of veggies cooked together – and seasonal veg with cashew nuts. Take a trip out to Niddrie, close to Essendon Airport and the Calder Freeway, for a Chinese feed for the whole troop to enjoy.

Food was delicious, but that is where the positives end. Waited a while for a waiter to take our order after we were finally able to flag one down. Waited an hour for the first entree and the drinks to come out and then the next four entrees came out in dribs and drabs over the next 20 minutes after we asked the waiter where the meals were. Then the mains took another half hour to arrive and all came out ten minutes apart, which was not ideal to be sharing the dishes. Food itself was small portions and barely any meat which was disappointing for $20 a dish. Disappointing experience, won’t be coming back.
Staff were pleasant. Customers engaged with other customers. Overall fantastic and I definitely would highly recommend to my friends
great friendly service and value for money for the food
