Specialising in fine food and premium coffee roasts, Kava Cafe is a magnet for the coffee fiends of Bicton. That said, it’s probably one of the best cafe-restaurants you’ll find anywhere in Perth, due to its effortless style and Italian-inspired menu. Sit amongst earthy shades and warm lights as you enjoy a brunch of bagels with attitude or unique matcha pancakes, topped with fresh berries and homemade Oreo mascarpone. For bigger eaters there’s the indulgent hash benedict, served with the usual suspects: smoked salmon, poached eggs and a damn fine hollandaise. The evening hours mean more Italian authenticity at this Bristol Avenue location, think pasta and a superb collection of wood-fired pizzas – the Kava special with BBQ pulled pork and roasted capsicum is a win. Last, but certainly, definitely not least: the coffee. Take it hot or cold, a flat white or an affogato? The beans at Kava Cafe might just have you jumping.
Food great, but the tables in front of the airconditioner were really cold. We had to asked to be moved...then watched as everyone else seated at that table asked to be moved as well.
The food was amazing, the staff are friendly and restaurant has a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant which is also family friendly.
Awesome food and lovely service. Great choice in the menu without making it overwhelming. OMG the pork belly bao buns were to die for. We'll be back for sure. THANK YOU!!

We had one of the nicest dinners out that we have had with our kids (2,5 and 7). The food was great - even the kids were telling everyone about it the next day and the service was excellent. The kids could watch the pizzas being made and going into the oven and the staff were all so friendly and put up with all the questions very patiently - my oldest daughter came away saying that she wants to work there when she grows up and make pizzas! Thank you for a very enjoyable evening and a lovely dinner. We particularly loved the 'make your own' antipasto - such a good idea!
This place is tucked in the residential neighbourhood. After reading the reviews on the red velvet pancakes, I could not go past this dish. As mentioned in other reviews, the dish isn't huge but reasonable size for $16. The dish was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. I especially loved the homemade cream cheese which tasted cheesier than the packet version. I would however would have liked more pistachio crumb for extra texture. The pan fried gnocchi and prawn linguine were also really tasty. I normally love my sauce in pastas but these dishes were really flavoursome without it swimming in sauce. I was pleasantly surprised. Would come back!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Kava, we shared a chilli mussels which had just the right amount of heat and I had the pan fried gnocchi which was delicious, my husband had the duck ragu, he raved about it as it had a large amount of slow cooked duck with the fettucini and I finished off with a delicious Vanilla Pannacotta with berry coulis. We will definitely go back, soon I hope.
So good to see the place absolutely buzzing on a Thursday night and it definitely added to the ambience. The food we ordered was spot on especially the mix and match share plate and Nero Linguini with squid ink linguini pasta with sauteed shark bay crabs and basil on a Napoletana Sauce. I would have given a 6 but they didn't have any chicken liver for the share plate. Great service as well.
We went to Kava Café on a Wednesday night and it was almost full. We had the Spaghetti Aglio Aulio and Quattro Di Carne. The spaghetti is nicely cooked and yum, even the ladies next to us wanted to try it when they visit next time. The pizza base is thin and lovely but I found it a little too salty to my liking. Will definitely come back again.
Kava Cafe always delivers the best service and food. We went there on Saturday night and although it was busy it was still as good as ever.
