A small restaurant with a seriously big heart, Last Bus to Kathmandu is an honest Nepalese eatery in Rockdale dishing up beautifully presented and incredibly tasty dishes. You can really see (and taste) a passion for sharing this lesser known subset of South Asian cuisine with Sydney, and the smiling staff at Last Bus to Kathmandu are more than happy to make recommendations or answer questions so you know what you are eating and the story behind it. From familiar Asian tastes like chow mein or tandoori chicken to unique Nepalese delicacies like spicy marinated goat or fried chicken giblets, Last Bus to Kathmandu reveals the mix of Indian and Chinese influence on Nepalese cuisine as well as how generations of Nepalese people have adapted these influences to their mountainous environment. Luckily, you don’t need to trek to the Himalayas to taste the results for yourself – just book a table and hit Princess Highway.
