Maedaya

Enjoyed a Tuesday night dinner at Maedaya. The service and food were both exceptional, from their selection of skewers to their range of desserts (particularly the matcha cheesecake).

This is not the first time we go to this restaurant. Food is so nice and the variety of Japanese sake and beer is excellent.

It's always a great experience when I go to Maedaya, that's why it's my favourite local restaurant. If you haven't been, I highly recommend that you go, it's got a huge selection of sake, and caters for those who assume that Japanese food is all raw. Quite the opposite, there is a huge selection of cooked dishes also.

Delicious vegetarian food options, great service and staff are very friendly. Some of the best Japanese food I've had in Melbourne. Very reasonable prices too.

The service was still wonderful but the vegetarian and seafood options have decreased and the whole menu has become more westernised which is a real shame as we used to love coming here. The iPad were super slow and are no longer easy to navigate like the tablets they had previously. Unless they go back to a more traditional menu in regards to the food we won't be coming back here.

Great food and good service.. get the grilled eel - one of the best in Melbourne... with a cold beer can't go wrong. Definitely with going for.

Great selection of sharing plates that cater to all! Impressive beer and soju selection to choose from as well. Easy ordering via iPad system and attentive staff. Our local favourite!

Food: some are delicious and some are not very good. Services are good and price is acceptable. Environment is ok but not very good. The overall is OK.

Amazing sashimi, the food is good. The decor is old, and quite grubby. Our table was sticky and there was a massive hole in the plaster wall where we were seated. The wait staff were friendly. Ordering from an iPad would have been fine, but our iPad was not working very well so that was annoying.

It was a nice experience and beautiful food. The menu in the ipads is such a good idea. Excellent service. I would like to come back

Always good friendly service and a great atmosphere. Have been there several times with different groups of friends a family and we all enjoyed it.

Awesome venue and convenient location. great atmosphere, delicious food and quick turn around on the food. bit $$$ but well worth it for a special night out with friends.

Food was delicious. Service was great. Huge drinks selection available. Nice sized portions that enable you to try lots of small dishes. Booking was easy. Would definitely recommend.

We had a Fantastic experience at Maedaya. Food was delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere, even when sitting at the bar area.

Orders through the Ipad is a good idea. The place is quite busy so book ahead. There are a few dishes that take a while to come out, so order the faster dishes while waiting for the big ones to come out. There are a huge range of alcohol which is nice to try. The sushi dishes are very good and fresh. Just a suggestion, if each dish have a minimum preparation time, then it would be good to know when ordering.

Maedaya is my favourite Japanese restaurant. The menu is awesome, the selection of sake is amazing, and the staff are always so friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Love the fast service and great quality food.the front of house staffs are so friendly.+++great price as well.will sure to return soon.i would say it's one of the best yakitori in Melbourne.

Excellent service as always and great food. Unfortunately it was an off night for the restaurant, experiencing a number of technical difficulties and running out of various menu items. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed the meal!

Food was good, BBQ stuff was nicely BBQ by the staff, sushi was ok, but generally quite expensive. The dessert earl grey cake was superb!!

Shops gotten larger but smaller menu and less detail in the food. It was much better when I use to see the owner there mixing and making drinks. He new how to really show off the place

The fastest service I've ever had at a restaurant, and always smiling staff made our dinner fantastic. Updated menu since last which was nice, favourites were still there. Very affordable also, quite a surprise given the quality of the food and the great service.

Great time, nice atmosphere, the drinks and food menu was very comprehensive and everything was very tasty. Really enjoyed the yakiniku! Will return. Arigato gosaimas!

Thank you for the sushi cake and help celebrating my son's 11th birthday. We love coming to Maedaya for the food and service. He chose to have his birthday dinner here!

Very casual, low-key and affordable Japanese option in Richmond. Ordering off the iPad was a nice gimmick. The food came really quickly so don't be deterred by the two-seating times.

Unfortunately there was a Very noisy party next to us. The waiter should have told the groupe to be more quiet. - The food was very good.

We went here for my daughter's birthday and we had a lovely evening. The food was fantastic and because we could use ipads everyone was able to order exactly what they wanted.

Skewers are good value and menu is lots of fun to browse. Huge sake selection with good price range. Service is friendly but we requested water through the tablet 3 times and never received it.

Food is delicious, specially the charcoal grillled skewers, they are so yummy. The variety of sake, cocktail and Japanese beer is impressive. Staff is friendly. Cost is a bit expensive but it's worth it.

Great selection on the menu. Waitress were not very attentive to our requests and orders. Our iPad menu was taken away from us mid session and also it was low on battery which affected our orders too. Technology service not up to scratch.
