About the restaurant
Great for big groups and family gatherings, Maya Da Dhaba is a spacious restaurant on Cleveland Street in Surry Hills that manages to remain intimate and comfortable, perhaps helped by its old-timey wooden tables and homely fire and mantlepiece. Of course studded with well-known dishes from across the Indian culinary canon, Maya Da Dhaba’s menu also features some unique signature dishes that make it worth a bit of a trek from elsewhere in Sydney. Their Adraki lamb chops (marinated overnight in Kashmiri spices and grilled to perfection) are worth the trip in themselves – but that’s only for starters, hang around for a specialty main like the South Indian-style, mustardy chicken Chettinad to see what Maya Da Dhaba are really about. Things do get crowded here, particularly for group bookings, so nab a table well ahead of time if Maya Da Dhaba is in your sights!
