Montezuma's - Mooloolaba

Great place, great food - always first and last meal when we come to Mooloolala!

It seems like it has gone downhill and it is now on its last legs. It used to be a great place, with great food. Now it is underwhelming, basic, with very average food.

We were told we’d be in the way no matter where we sat with our infant in his pram. The meat in the taquitos and the steak for the fajitas was dry and very salty. We ordered 2 jalapeño margaritas from a waitress behind the bar. She asked us how hot from 1 to 5 and we said 3. Waited 20 minutes only to be told by another bar tender that we hadn’t ordered drinks - and that the other waitress behind the bar was asking us how hot we wanted our chilli sauce for the food.

No table service, “ they had nothing to write orders on”. I find for the prices, almost $30 per meal, being made to use an app and make my own order is just not on. Food bland, obviously the quality is severely compromised from our years of previous visits. Overpriced and underwhelming.

Staff were super friendly and the service was quick and great however the food was not the best…

We haven’t been for a long while but when Jan was owner the food was better, the muncharchos number 14 and they had some lettuce on them and after Jan left it was still like that too . As well as you have gotten rid of the kids burritos which is not impressive at all because there are only certain things that certain kids eat and you got rid of it not impressed .

Placed our order for 2 when the restaurant was nearly empty. Meals took almost an hour to arrive and we're cold, almost chilled like they had been in a fridge. Sent them back for re cooking then came back hot but almost burnt, rice was rock hard. Meals were a bit bland in taste also. Definitely not there best effort. Below average considering the the prices have raised so much it is now cheaper to get a steak and veg from the tavern.

QR ordering didn’t work. Instructions about ordering not clearly given. Very inflexible with slight change to standard menu item. One meal arrived and was over half eaten before other three meals arrived. Beans with one dish served cold. Menus left on the table throughout dinner. Enchilada size smalller than previously eaten ones at this restaurant.

Great service, nice and quick. Food was great and the Long Island iced tea was a winner! Can’t wait to go back.

The staff were lovely but they food wasn’t great. I had pork nachos which was yum but my husband had beef nachos and got half the amount of meat I did(it was his birthday dinner we were there for to), my brother in law and father in law enchilada werent very good. One had no flavour and the other tasted just like cheese, both seemed to be missing sauce and meat. My mother in laws tacos got missed as the system from the till to the kitchen stuff up which would have been okay but by the time it was noticed you guys had run out of beef. I would say that explains the lack of meat in the other meals. Next time I would suggest letting the customer know you don’t have enough beef for the order rather then just giving less in each meal. Don’t think we will be back any time soon.

Staff and service was lovely. They ran out of rice and we had to wait an hour or so for 3 of our main meals to come out though which was a little ordinary.... however in saying that they gave us a round of drinks for free to help compensate which was nice.

The frijoles (beans) had a lot of excess liquid on both the nachos entree and on the side of our enchilada mains. Our meals were also not very hot. Would love if they went back to putting the frijoles on the plate and in the oven so the meal is sizzling hot like it used to be.

I took my 90 year mother who had never had Mexican before and we had enchiladas which she loved and so did I staff were very friendly and efficient so everything was great

We used to have a Montezumas in Toowoomba but it closed down many years ago so when we saw this one during a recent stay at Mooloolabah we had to go. The food was just how I remembered it. Good size meals & very tasty. Staff were very friendly. We did wait a while for our meal but the restaurant was busy & the waitress apologized when I meals finally arrived. It was definately worth the wait. Excellent mexican food.

The beans were not like usual red colour and were tasteless. The Enchilada had minimal cheese over it. They forgot to put the sour cream on the Enchilada with Chorizo. Not up to usual standard for Montezumas. It was still okay to eat, but not as yummy as usual.

Great food, a little disappointed they ran out of chicken but the beef was great!

We could not have been happier! Monty’s is special to my husband and I as we came here for lunch one day during our honeymoon. We then made it our ‘thing’, culminating in it being our ‘go-to’ for our milestone anniversaries (10 year and 20 year). The staff could not have been nicer, friendlier or more accommodating 200000/10 in terms of food taste, staff and environment xx

Waited almost 2 hours for our meals. Meals came out one at a time with a delay in between each person/meal. We wait until everyone is served, this is why basic hospitality is all meals served together as our meals were now cold. 2 people at our table had their meals completely missed so we had to wait for them to cook them completely again. There was no communication from wait staff about what was happening until we approached and asked about our food. When we went to pay they didn’t charge us for the 2 meals that they forgot. That was nice but we won’t be going there again.

Food was terrible, left items off our meal then tried to charge us for them 1 meal was badly burnt & stuck to the plate 2 other chicken meal were really dry Absolutely the worst Mexican I’ve ever eaten Won’t be ever going back or recommending

We love going to Montezumas but this the experience was disappointing. One person didn’t get their meal, we asked many times. When I went up to the kitchen the chef said it was given to the wrong person. We said everyone had finished their meals, they offered to make it take away free of charge. The other meal came out cold, we asked for it for it to be heated up and that meal never came back.

Great food, great service! Have been eating here since I was a kid and Haven’t been for a visit for almost 20 years (since living overseas) and it wa even better than I remembered!

We have been going for 25 plus years....last night was terrible. Cramming 6 adults into a booth on the hottest day from hell with no AC was ridiculous. So hot we couldn't enjoy or finish our meals for our daughters birthday. There was a huge table right beside us empty....

My order for the Mexican date cake took a long time to arrive, and only after I asked the staff. I ordered it with coconut ice cream because I'm vegan, but it tasted like dairy ice cream.

The staff were very accommodating for our 2 group bookings for my son's 16th birthday. The meals were great as usual and the team were happy to bring out our cake with candles and sparklers.
