An outpost of Iberia in the centre of Melbourne, MoVida offers a take on Spanish food that incorporates all the finest that the cuisine has to offer, while still moving forwards with new dishes that keep them contemporary. They open their doors at 12 noon at their location on Hosier Lane – off Flinders Street, close to Federation Square, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Melbourne Cricket Ground – and they make the perfect place for a business lunch, an after-work snack or a full evening meal, so make the journey and get stuck into a proper Spanish feed.
The food was absolutely fabulous, and couldn't be faulted. However, dining out is not just about the food. The service, the ambience and the timing of the meal all count. And the timing last night was far from perfect. We were in and out in one hour, which gives some idea of the speed with which our meal - tapas, raciones y postre - was delivered. Way too fast. It was a special occasion, too - my birthday - and we wanted an evening out, the whole experience. And we definitely didn't have that. We left feeling very well fed indeed, but that was it. We certainly didn't say - Wow, what a great night out. And I think we should have been able to say that.
Great food, especially the lamb with roasted peppers. We also loved the dessert of almond tart and banana yoghurt...yummy! The waitress was friendly and helpful with choice of dishes. Great atmosphere too...would definitely come here again!
