Okami - Bendigo

My wife and I went for our anniversary and were delighted with the whole night. We would definatly reccomrnd it to our family and friends.

This was awesome. Great food. Great service and the dishes came out so fast. Would definitely come back again. Given the amount of people all entering at the same time and ordering at the same time, the service is amazing. Well done!

We found that the wait staff we totally confused with the ordering and where the tables were. We did not get the right food, it was given to the table next to us. We ordered but the food still was taking a long time. As for the head waiter, he was rude and found excuses for all our requests. We asked if we could pay cash and the rest on card, he said no and made us wait in line while he served everyone else. We felt so humiliated, we just wanted to pay!! We won’t unfortunately, be back to the Bendigo restaurant, but will go back to the Geelong one as it was top service and excellent food. The couple that sat next to us, just gave up waiting for some of their meals and were also disappointed. Overall we rate our experience a fail 😠

We loved our 1st dining experience there, we will definitely go back for sure. Staff were very friendly, accommodating to our special needs daughters needs and food was fresh and come out in great timings. added bonus our fussy son ate food he wouldn't normally eat or try!! First time . Greeted, seated , ordering explained. Wine glasses arrived, food arrived , plates cleared, smiling faces all round . Definitely heading back soon

My friend and I were visiting Bendigo for the Mary Quant exhibition and decided to try Okami - another friend had recommended their Wantirna restaurant and loved it. The Bendigo Okami is a stylish restaurant, I liked the decor and the black melamine tableware. It's very popular - we arrived at 7.30pm for the 7.45pm sitting, there was a large group of customers outside waiting to enter. Some tables from the 5.30pm sitting were slow to leave and there was a queue waiting to pay, so everyone outside had to be patient, thank goodness it wasn't raining. I was really impressed by the efficiency of the staff, they were so helpful whilst working under a lot of pressure. Our order was taken fairly quickly, the food came out fairly quickly and we enjoyed what we ate. The dishes aren't very big, so I suggest ordering 4-6 dishes for 2 people to start with. It is no problem ordering extra dishes. The restaurant is a little noisy so may not suit those who have trouble hearing. If you have a good appetite , Okami will be excellent value and you can try lots of different dishes - ideal for anyone not familiar with Japanese cuisine.

The food was great, good job Chef. The waiting staff not so much. We order food by a waitress but was told after waiting some time we hadn't ordered by waiter with tablet. It took a long time to order drinks then get the drinks.

We had the best experience here! The staff are very friendly and efficient. The food is great and it is something quite different for Bendigo!

It was good overall! The only real issue was that the sun glares in the front huge windows (during the early sitting) and it affects the front table. Blinds needed please so we can see the food and each other. Lovely service however, thank you

I waited for five minutes for a maitre de to greet me at the door but once he came it was a wonderful experience. Our table was ready and waiting and the service was very good, Food was delicious but the disappointment came when we were unable to split the bill and I ended up having to pay for everyone in the hope that they will all pay me individually after I itemise their shares and provide them all with my banking details and await their sense of honesty to repay me for the evening. For this reason alone I regret to say that despite the wonderful experience of this restaurant, I shall never return until split bills are allowed. Yours sincerely, Hally Wild
