This is our second visit since the current Management and we will certainly be back. The staff are welcoming and attentive and our fish was well presented and cooked to perfection. The menu has plenty of choices and is easy to read as is the wine list. A reasonably priced top quality seafood restaurant in a popular location.
Lovely friendly staff! Good food, fast service. Worth a visit.
Service slow - meals came out at indifferent times. Food tasty.
Food was very good, although slow to come out. the service was excellent.
Excellent service, food and atmosphere.... Shaun was an excellent host Thank You
Not as I remember PAULS FISH CAFE VERY ORDINARY EXPERIENCE FOOD ETC. CHIPS HAVE BEEN DOWNSIZED INSTEAD OF HAND CUT. DESPITE ASKING FOR VERY HOT COFFEE IT WAS LUKEWARM AS IS THE USUAL ALMOST ANYWHERE OTHERS HAVE TOLD ME THEY WERE DISAPPOINTED I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THEM.
The fish was tough and not much flavour. Disappointed since our last visit was very good.
Lovely fresh sea food excellent service will be coming back again!
Great night out and beautiful food to enjoy with my partner
Won't be going back there again......waste of money on a special day
Had a lovely meal with my wife. Food was good. 1 waitress, in particular, was very bubbly and gave excellent service. They were quite busy, being Valentine's Day, so our food took a little while to arrive, but we were being well attended to.
The meal was great and presented in a timely manner. The only improvement would have been a serve of mayonnaise on the side.
Not been for years. Juicy plump prawns and the best chips ever! would have liked a better salad but overall we really enjoyed the meal. Sat upstairs on the balcony...cool and quiet. Excellent friendly service. Highly recommend.
Felt like staff where in a hurry to get us out, seemed like too much trouble to bring tartare sauce when asked and was charged full price for a beer that was supposed to be less with a specific meal purchase. Was like an eat in fish and chip shop with a tiny basic salad on the side and tartare out of a jar. Wont be going back.
The service was polite, but the apologies just kept coming. I’m not sure what has happened to this seafood institution. We had issues with each of the 6 meals presented, presentation was below poor, items from the menu not available, limited fish menu, overcooked schnitzel served with melted butter! - we don’t do gravy any more sorry - again even thou on the menu. We had two guests dining with us. Most disappointed. Oddly complaints from the adjacent tables too. Our bill was incorrect, but corrected. Paul’s is obviously under new leadership and won’t, cannot survive - I’d say give it a miss! Sadly.
Scallops were overcooked, oysters were not fresh. Whiting was good, however. Overpriced for what we got.
Restaurant is a bit dated but food was nice enough.
Quality of the seafood is always excellent as is the service.
Slow service Really really thin slices of bread Fish half the size of normal Oysters tiny I’ve been going here for 20 yrs Very disappointed ! Really expensive I won’t be back
Good food and the service and staff were very friendly.
On arrival the staff were unaware of our booking. Service was slow given there were only one other couple present. From my observations they were the former owners transitioning the new owners. No one cared about the two of us as we had to ask for wine. We weren't offered the choice of any table water or bread. The whiting looked tired the chips were acceptable, the salad limp. A person which I presumed to be the new owner spent the whole time whilst we were eating measuring up various areas of the restaurant. Not an enjoyable meal. We adjourned oi the adjacent Bath Hotel for our bottle of wine.
Thanks for a great affordable night. Seafood cooked to perfection, lovely staff.
Great food great staff..very friendly super place to go for fish
Excellent service, great seafood & good value pricing 👍 Well worth a visit.
Soft shell crab disappointing however other three people with me enjoyed their dishes. Chairs uncomfortable thus we went elsewhere for coffee
Went because of usual fish preparation. Some wasn’t up to the usual standard.
Whilst they have beautiful seafood, we waited 25 minutes at our table before anyone even came close to taking a drinks order, we had to wave them down to get service and then waited a long time before the meals came out, then no follow up drinks order.....disappointing for such a iconic restuarant on the Parade.
Seafood, chips and wine were fantastic. Salad is very basic and could use a bit of work.
fish presented superbly, the "special" crayfish +prawn entree was a bit limp [lobster wet ? thawed and still watery], The chips/wedges could be improved with more garnish and a bit of salt/pepper.
When we ordered our bottle of wine, one of the glasses was dirty which the new waitress didn't notice. We had to ask for a clean glass and the wine wasn't opened - she left the screw cap on the bottle. We had to ask twice for a bottle of water. The dish of tartare sauce was left on one of the bread side plates instead of being put in the middle of the table to share. She was a lovely girl but just needs to be mentored while she is learning.
Our waitress was lovely, and the food was cooked by Sam to his usual high standard, but the fish he had to cook wasn’t up to the old Paul’s standard. Is the new management cutting costs? We were quite disappointed.
The online menu and cafe menu are not the same. Sadly the cafe is not what it used to be
We had a long wait to even give our order. Then they forgot the drinks. But the food was pretty good
Excellent-Lovely fresh seafood. We don't cook fried fish at home. We don't have the right equipment or the expertise- and Paul's do it perfectly, so it's our "go to" for a casual fish/chips/salad meal. The wine list is a winner too.
