Food was fantastic, service was amazing had great company too

The food was ok, just too much bread crumb on the Chicken breast and the salad could be a bit better more Tomato and Cucumber/ Beetroot etc. Also afew more options would be nice like pasta dishes, Roast dinners etc.

This is awesome atmosphere and reasonably priced would definitely recommend

We were a group of 6. I loved my salmon. I did provide a written list of allergies and my chips had something on them and I couldn’t eat them. Most of the meals were good. 2 of the waves of vegetables were really chewy and not very nice.

Service was good and surprisingly timely considering how busy it was. I had the beef burger which was really nice. The other two had the steak sandwich and the steak was undercooked and so tough they couldn’t chew through it. Had to get steak knives to even attempt to cut it. Having said that I would definitely go again but never order steak as everything else was good

At different times when we've dined there the meals haven't always been up to scratch. However on this occasion my date and I were very pleased about the quality of the meals that we'd ordered. The servings were generous, the food was cooked properly and was hot when served and, in particular, we both enjoyed the freshness and quality of the garden salad that came with our meals, something that had often been less than satisfactory in the past. Our only real criticism was that our table felt very tacky to the touch which somewhat detracted from the overall experience.

Great service from both the dining and bar staff. Excellent meals all around (there were 7 of us). Wait times for food were also great. Definitely a place I’d return to.

Well what an amazing Valentine's Day we've had. We chose to go to our favourite pub in Cessnock (Pedens Hotel) for dinner. They rang last night to confirm and asked if we were celebrating anything special. I said "Just Valentine's Day!". So we arrived to be escorted to our table by Abbey (I hope I've spelt that correctly) and immediately saw a lit candle and a single red rose, plus 2 chilled (empty at this stage) champagne glasses on the table. My wife was absolutely ecstatic!! I told both Abbey and the darling barman who came and filled our champagne glasses that they had made my wife's night, seeing as how I hadn't bought her flowers myself. Abbey kept checking on us to make sure we were happy with everything. This wasn't the end of how far they went. Later on in the evening, the barman presented my wife with a beautifully boxed wine set and said she had won a prize. We still have no idea why, but we felt really special. Anyway, it gets even better! We didn't take the 2 bottles of wine out of the box until we got home and as I did so, I noticed a card in the box. I said to my wife "What's this?". She said she didn't know. I thought it would be a "thanks for dining with us" type thing, but no, it's a voucher for an Ultimate tasting experience for two at Hungerford Hill Estate, which includes a mini-degustation of Hungerford Hill wines matched to bite-sized dishes by award winning two-hatted, Muse Restaurant! Amazing! All this from a country pub! We were absolutely blown away by just how far they went above and beyond to look after us. Thanks Abbey and all the staff at Pedens Hotel. You made our night so special and memorable! ❤️❤️❤️

Staff were lovely. 2 of the 5 meals were a little small but I guess that’s the economy of today’s society. The food was lovely though and it was reasonably priced so I guess overall it was a good dining experience.

Great Location for dinner before a show at Cessnock performing Arts Theatre.

Food was very good, and given how busy it was service was good, staff were friendly, competent and helpful, and we didn’t have to wait too long for meals. But it was a painfully noisy environment - actually really uncomfortable for us older guests. (Which is what most patrons were). Lots of people, and the music still playing in the restaurant area. (And the bar ran out of wine glasses! )

Loved the rotolo - it was delicious - but in comparison to other meals of similar price, the quantity was light on.

The staff were great but the food was pretty ordinary. I had the Peden’s burger and chips. It had no flavour and too much salt on the chips. My husband had the chicken snitzel which he said was ok but the gravy was tasteless and the salad was very bland and ordinary.

Food was good especially seeing we where here on a Tuesday half price menu deal but between 6 of us our meals 30 minutes apart… understandably as it was very busy but the worst part is we haven’t been for years because of the staff being extremely rude and unfortunately nothing has changed as the bar staff are still exactly the same…but value for money is very good.

I’ve eaten at Pedens on many occasions and been very happy with just about everything. Today unfortunately, was a different experience. We had three adults and a toddler and two of the adults and the toddler were quite happy with their food. In my own case though I had the lamb kebab which came with chips and ordered a side salad which turned out to be less than ideal. The lamb was burnt and tough as a result of being very well done - or overdone I should say. The chips were decent, though I don’t think they were as good as usual, and the salad, though tasty enough, was ridiculously large for one person - which is what I had expected it to be. That was definitely a waste of food. The one thing that I couldn’t fault was the garlic bread which is the best I’ve ever had. I don’t know what their secret is, but everyone speaks very highly of it and it remains a standout feature. Our visit was during the school holidays and so unsurprisingly it was very noisy with a lot of children present including our own. However it wasn’t only the kids who were making a lot of noise as there were groups of adults doing the same thing. I did tell our server about my disappointing lamb and she was quick to ask what she could do to make it up to me. I told her not to worry (especially when the others had thoroughly enjoyed their meals), but asked that she pass my feedback on to the chef, which she said that she would do. I’ll continue to go to Pedens whenever I have friends or family visiting me, but won’t be ordering the lamb again.

It turned out nice at the end but whilst I was eating my meal a hair was noticed on the chips which was replaced but it might be an idea to wear PPE whilst preparing / serving meals and washing hands after toileting .

Didn't enjoy the steak sandwich. A bit dry and not enough salad also wasn't keen on the roll it was on.

I usually don't mind the heat but the aircon needed to be turned up, I was sweaty! Most of the food was pretty good but my steak had so much sinew I struggled to cut it up and chew it. The staff were lovely, but I probably won't go back.
