The tamarind duck was superb but the salad was a bit too sour. Overall the food was good

Excellent food, service and ambience. Went there with a group of friends not knowing what to expect and we were all very pleased for going to the Phamous Kitchen in balmain. The food was great , not heavy, tasty, well presented, and the service was fantastic, timely and always attending to our needs without being intrusive. Will go back there again for sure and recommend to all my friends.

It was very busy when we arrived and the wait time for service initially was quite long, but once we ordered the food started arriving promptly. Food was fantastic and service was friendly. We were sitting at the back part of the restaurant which was good because it wasn't too noisy. Would definitely go back!

Public holiday surcharge for Easter Saturday made it a bit more expensive but food was delicious.

It seems as if Phamous is understaffed - it took a while to get the usual service. Hopefully, this is not a trend... As well, there was a table of loud, raucous folk which obviated any comfortable conversation at our table.

Probably my fifth visit here, the food and service is always great. especially the pork pancake, delicious.

Phamous is a great restaurant, and we done there often. The food is a bit different from the other Vietnamese restaurants, although the menu would benefit from more seafood eg prawns. There are lots of diners who don't eat chicken, pork, lamb or beef, but do eat seafood. The service was a little slow on this particular night, but otherwise, it's very good.

I ate at this restaurant a couple of years ago and thought it was amazing. Sadly, last night this was not my experience. After talking it up with friends (one of whom is a Chef) we went off with high expectations, The rice paper rolls were fine, the scallop in betel leaf delicious. Then came the pork belly - this felt like it had been cooked and reheated later (or microwaved) - it was tough, and had no flavour. The duck was overcooked and it too seemed reheated version with tough bits around the edges. The Wagu was good, just a little light on in quantity for 5 people and the prawns lovely. For desert a banana dish was served up, half of it was left uneaten. Sorry guys, I don't like writing bad reviews but last nights experience left us very disappointed.

Fabulous food. Fresh and tasty. Pleasant atmosphere and staff. One of the 4 main meals arrived 10 mins after the others. A little disorganised. Shame.

The food was interesting, tasty and generous. More Asian fusion than Vietnamese. Prices are about average. Pleasant seating in or outdoors. I would definitely return.

Great food, especially the beef, very good service, great price. Delicious and very satisfying. We have been before and we’ll be back soon. Next time I’ll be ordering ahead for an off menu special.

Always sensational food from entree through to dessert!! Love it all!! I look forward to the wontons most of all and the massamun lamb is a must!!

Fabulous and tasty food. I love visiting here and do so regularly. Staff are friendly and the dining space is open and pleasant. No matter whether I try new dishes or stick with my trusty faves, it never disappoints.

Modern SE Asian cuisine. I was expecting Vietnamese given the name, however, the menu was wider ranging than that. The quality of the food was excellent, especially considering the mid-range price. The dishes that depart from your usual pad thai and salt/pepper squid were the best. Our orders included both PT and S/P S which were very good, but the real standouts were the less standard dishes. The scallop on the betel leaf - this was as good as any fine dining I've had at any 'celebrity chef' restaurant. The simple sounding chicken maryland w/ black bean was tender with perfectly crisp skin - I usually detest chicken skin but found this a delight. Desserts were good - recommend banana wrapped in pastry. The creme brulee serving was huge with an interesting fairy floss type confection on top. Really good though at first instance, the blue of the floss seemed a little odd. The staff were professional and friendly and gave off a genuine sense of goodwill. We went on a Fri night and the place was full.

Amazing blend of Vietnamese, thai and other Asian fusion. Thoroughly recommended. Try the salmon red curry with thai eggplant, simply stunning. Have been at least three times now!

Great tasting fresh food with value for money. Always friendly, helpful staff with good service. Nice to be able to have the choice of byo wine or licenced if preceded. Present decor with plenty of room between tables & nice to be able to sit outside on a warm summer evening.

I was a little disappointed with Phamous Kitchen. The food was very nice, not as good as I thought it would be but still enjoyable, the service pretty poor.

Our favourite local balmain restaurant. Good service and inventive dishes. Run by a Vietnamese couple the owners regularly try new dishes. We often have a selection of entrees.

Service was excellent but the food left us dumbfounded! Vietnamese???? The pancake was more like a pizza and the crispy skin duck was so sweet there was no way we could contemplate desert.
