Don’t be scared! You don’t have to be a spice nut to enjoy the authentic Indian cuisine on offer at Summer Hill’s Spicy Karahi. The friendly staff at this family-friendly western Sydney stalwart are more than happy to alter the level of kick in your curry, ranging from mild and creamy to face-meltingly spicy. That said, of course if you are after a chilli hit, Spicy Karahi on Smith Street is as good a spot as you’ll find in Summer Hill. The menu runs the gamut of Indian favourites, from awesome vegetarian mains like navrattan korma or mushroom shabnam to beef vindaloo, mango chicken, goat curry, prawn malbari and authentic rasmalai or gulab jamun to finish it all off nicely!
The lamb rogan josh was lovely, Karahi not spicy enough though. It was nice, we went on a voucher but it wasn't quite what we thought. A 3 course meal for 2 is normally a starter main and dessert each but we were told we had to share a starter and dessert. We were only given 1 bread to share and we were told we could have 1 bread or a rice between two. Again fine if you're told upfront. We ended up having to buy extra which defeated the point of the voucher providing a cheap meal out.
Food was fantastic with a generous selection of items in the menu. The service was a bit slow. Good value and I would recommend it to others.
