St James Crabhouse is a restaurant that Brisbane can be proud of. As the first real crabhouse in the city, the restaurant is innovating the local dining scene through their commitment to fresh, quality seafood, American-style burgers and barbecue. Time and again the restaurant impresses with their extensive menu of tasty offerings, but their food isn’t the only thing that’s awesome – the relaxed setting and the friendly service is second to none. You’ll find St James Crabhouse & Kitchen down Baildon Street in Kangaroo Point, just steps from the Brisbane River. Booking ahead is essential when planning a meal at this popular restaurant.
If you never thought seafood could look gorgeous, think again. At St James Crabhouse & Kitchen on Brisbane’s Baildon Street, the crab is so stunning and fresh it’s almost too beautiful to eat. But once you crack into it, you’ll be glad you did. There are five sauces available – New Orleans, Singapore Chilli, Baltimore, Citrus Beurre Blanc and Newport Marinara – plus several American-inspired sides including shoestring truffle fries with parmesan, grilled corn on the cob, and cabbage slaw with apple and pine nuts. The dining space is clean, relaxed and artfully decorated, the perfect place to chow down on some seriously fresh grub in the heart of Kangaroo Point.
At St James Crabhouse & Kitchen, in addition to Alaskan king crab, snow crab and blue swimmers, you can also indulge in a range of other freshly caught seafood, chargrilled specialties like beef short ribs, NY striploin and lemon pepper marinated chicken, grass-fed beef burgers, and even vegetarian options like the Brooklyn Stack, a meat-free burger made with a stack of grilled eggplant and cheese and topped with a tomato and herb based goti sauce. For dessert, the American brownie or key lime pie with whipped cream are both phenomenal choices. Don’t let another day pass by without St James Crabhouse & Kitchen in your life – reserve ahead to enjoy an amazing meal at this incredible seafood restaurant in Brisbane’s Kangaroo Point.
great food great service. Always nice to enjoy crab and beer. Never disappointed with the food or the service at the crabhouse. highly recommended to anyone who hasn't been.
Deliciously prepared high quality seafood. Don't let the bare exterior fool you. Food like this will not come cheap, unless you know how to cook it yourself.
The food was delicious and the service was simple but good. Great value for money, with the $89 platter for two being like one that would be $150 elsewhere
Fantastic customer service, extra friendly & knowledgeable staff. Good wine & of course delicious food. Everything was amazing, will definitely be back & would highly recommend :)
This is a great little restaurant. The menu contains a bunch of interesting American food - ribs, burgers, etc. - but in our view the only reason to go is for the crab. You can get different local and imported crabs, depending on season and availability, and you combine your choice with one of the sauces. We love the Jonah's Claws (from Florida) and the Baltimore sauce, but that's just a matter of taste. The crabs come in a plastic bag (yes that's right), which they say keeps them hot for longer than putting them on a plate, and you get a big bib (essential) and gloves (optional) plus the usual implements for cracking the claws and extracting the meat. It's a lot of fun and absolutely delicious. Combine that with great, friendly service and a tiny but acceptable wine list and you have the makings of a great evening. There were five of us and we all had a blast - we'll be back.
One of Brisbane's best hidden secrets. The menu has a fantastic selection of local and imported seafood which is really worth exploring. Not into crab no problem, there are ribs, burgers, steak and grilled chicken and vegetables options to satisfy your hunger. The wait staff, especially Jon makes the evening very enjoyable. St. James Crabhouse & Kitchen has become my new favourite place to eat. PS Jonah Crab Claws in Singapore Chilli sauce is fantastic.
This little restaurant was amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was so fresh and delicious and was ready really quickly. We had a friend with us who doesn't like seafood, they brought her out gloves and a bib, so she could share the experience, to eat her chicken wings. We had such a ball and laughed all night. Completely different way of cooking and eating seafood to what we are used to in Australia would really recommend it to any seafood lovers.
Good atmosphere, great food and very attentive staff! A big thank you to the manager for looking after us and being so attentive, and also the tips on how to eat the crab legs! This restaurant has become my number 1 option whenever I need to treat someone special or to celebrate a special occasion. Thank you for looking after my mum and made the night memorable, she rarely visit Australia and last time we saw her was over 3 years ago. Overall, definitely a place worth revisiting.
The food is first class and so is the friendly service. The prices are not low but I believe that we got good value for money. I would recommend the St James to anybody, especially foodies like ourselves. We had the Snow Crab Combo which contained Snow crab, Blue Swimmers (Sandies for Queenslanders), Red Claw and Mussels. I had the Singapore Chilli sauce which was not hot but very good. My gastronomical friend had the Citrus Beurre Blanc sauce which was very nice. A GREAT meal.
We had the mussels (with the broth - forgot what it is called but there are only two options), Jonah crab claw (with Singapore chilli sauce) and Moreton Bay bugs (with Baltimore sauce). The mussels were beautiful in the broth and were fresh as they get fresh mussels and put them on ice. The Jonah crab claws (despite being frozen prior, were wonderful and easy to crack as they already have incisions in them). Loved the Singapore chilli sauce. I was not a massive fan of the bread, I thought they were a little stale but everything else was perfect.
