Given the current climate surrounding COVID-19, many authorities are placing restrictions on social gatherings. In the best interest of everyone’s safety, we are continuously updating the availability of our partner restaurants to reflect these measures. We encourage people to still support the restaurant industry in other ways.Learn how
While Adelaide city features numerous tapas restaurants, it makes sense that the central township of the famous McLaren Vale viticultural region should offer up the perfect foodie accompaniment to wine. The Artel, located at the northern end of McLaren Vale’s Main Road, offers modern dishes that stand out from the rest. Visit this Australian restaurant from Wednesdays to Sundays to try out innovative tapas, delicious shared plates or hearty individual mains. With an array of sampling platters, food catering for children and a spacious venue, this is the place to go to for a group gathering or a meal out with the family. If you have spare time, you can even head down to The Artel Gallery to appreciate the work of local artists.
The staff were very friendly but the Artel is a little dark in the main seating area. I found the beef skewers were cut into pieces that were quite large and had been a little overcooked. I would prefer small pieces on skewers. My friends had risotto, prawns which were very good.
Arrived at 6.45pm and took 30 mins just to get a drink. Entree came straight away main took 3 hours to arrive on table along with 2 other tables. Never again
Food very well prepared and plated, cooked to perfection and staff very warm and welcoming. Restaurant clean and well presented. The attached store is a bonus.
If you’re taking a day down from Adelaide to visit South Australia’s McLaren Vale wine growing region and you fancy something gourmet to eat, head to The Artel in McLaren Vale township for a modern Australian meal served up in a sophisticated atmosphere. Specialising in shared platters that can serve as both mains or an appetisers, The Artel provides diners with the flexibility to customise their dining experience to their liking. For first timers, we recommend ordering the Artel beef sliders, tender and juicy herb-infused beef patties, stuffed in between two fresh slider buns and topped with homemade relish, cheese and rocket.
Besting many competitors in Adelaide, The Artel also offers delicious seafood options such as dukkah-encrusted salmon with potato gratin and finished with a sticky honey balsamic glaze, served alongside a garden salad. A meal here wouldn’t be complete without dessert, and the Artel chocolate tasting plate is a must-try. If you have spare time on your hands, head over to The Artel Gallery, located on the same premises, where you’ll find beautiful local artwork for your viewing pleasure.
