Whether looking for those tangy, tantalising Thai tastes to freshen up on a hot summer day or searching for the warming Southeast Asian curries that can cheer anybody through a rough winter, the Emerald Elephant is an ever-welcoming port of call on Melbourne’s busy Bay Street. Just a short walk from the Spirit of Tasmania dock and the beach stretching along Beaconsfield Parade, the Emerald Elephant is a Port Melbourne favourite in the summer, when its outdoor seating area is filled with punters enjoying a cooling beer and some refreshing rice-paper rolls or papaya salad. But the Emerald Elephant also has the prescribed antidote to any case of the winter blues. For some this is a classic kee mao or pad thai, for others it is the lesser known tastes of a jungle curry or the Mongolian specialty sauce.
Very nice food and quick service, definitely will go and try other dishes. I ordered special fried rice with fried chicken and taste pretty outstanding.
The food was lovely and had lots of wonderful flavours. Quick service. The TV on the wall was quite distracting though. We would have preferred some background music while dining.
