The Swallowed Anchor

2nd time I have been to the Swallowed Anchor and it was amazing. GREAT food, great atmosphere and excellent service. Highly recommend going to this restaurant

The staff were wonderful and the food was sensational! Reasonable pricing for tapas style food. Will definitely attend again and next time bring a larger group :)

Swallowed Anchor had great food, and was pretty reasonably priced. The salt and pepper squid was fantastic paired with a delicious rose! Fairly busy atmosphere for a Thursday.

Friendly, casual, attentive but not over the top. Food....bloody fantastic, sorry! Food was terrific, great size portions for sharing and value for money. Definetly coming back. Yum

Great food but noisy environment. Needs dampeners. Tapas was good to share with group. Your review system should allow less words. Keep it simple people.

The food was extremely overpriced for what they were offering, several items we couldn't eat, the meatballs and sauce were dry and since they came out less than 5 minutes after ordering they were clearly premade and just sitting there, also 6 small prawns floating in a bowl of oil for $16 is not my ideas of tapas. Staff were friendly but the service was poor despite not being busy, the location and atmosphere were good but the food was disappointing.

Always a pleasure eating here. Fab food, atmosphere and service. Can't recommend it more highly (although also happy to keep it as our little secret and guilty pleasure, ha ha!)

Great Martini’s Above average food mostly Extremely loud when there’s numerous bookings for larger groups. Can’t hear what the person next to you is saying at times.

Love the atmosphere, love the choices available, while the menu is. not huge, but everyone should find something to their taste. Very generous proportions and all cooked and extremely delicious. HIGHLY recommend the Swallowed Anchor

Friendly staff, delicious Tapas options and a pretty good drinks list, including a mean espresso martini. It was the perfect nights to sit on the balcony.

The staff are very helpful with recommendations the food is delicious the wine list extensive and the atmosphere great it’s definitely a place for groups but couples wouldn’t be out of place either, do as we did order bits of everything.

Brilliant tapas!! Very tasty and generous servings. Definitely go for the garlic prawns and the polenta chips. The IPA on tap was a perfect thing to wash it down. Perfect dinner and drinks spot! Also, great people watching view from the balcony

We went on a Wednesday night.... it wasn’t very busy .... which was a bonus.... the food was exceptional.... the staff were friendly and efficient...,. I will most definitely be back

The staff and service was great. Vibe was great on Saturday night with live music. Awesome menu items and very tasty, solid beer selection also.

Everything was excellent. Amazing food, great staff and great ambiance. We are definitely coming back and we will bring our friends and family. Totally recommended

The food was outstanding, the only lost of marks here was that the staff decided that we were finished ordering before we were. It’s a tapas restaurant and we had told out waitress that we wanted to hold onto the menu, unfortunately it seems that we might have been forgotten because not only did they not return to ask if there was anything else we’d like to order, we did not get a chance to order more drinks or even offered a dessert menu. We did eventually give up waiting and perhaps we could have chased it up but it turned a pleasant experience a little sour. I would go again though because there is so much more we would like to try off the exciting menu.

Loved it here. They have live music on saturdays and the food was delicious. The price was reasonable for the quality of the food and the service.

Lovely food and service, with a nice atmosphere. Not many vegan options though which was disappointing to a couple of guests in our party. Look forward to visiting again.

Great food but definitely need more bread on platters and bread with the prawns to eat with the yummy chilli butter sauce would be even better

The food was great. Try one of the banquet menus for an array of tasty tapas. We loved every dish and had reasonably priced wine to go with it. Try this place.

We have been to The Swallowed Anchor many times...consistently great food, drinks, service and staff. Highly recommended. Live music Saturday nights and a lovely balcony for those warmer days and nights.

Excellent food. The best tapas we’ve had in Wollongong. The portion sizes were substantial & well priced. Excellent service & very accommodating. We’ll definitely be back.

A great place for celebrations.. The tapas choices are fantastic.. Great value and delicious.. Good selection of wines too. Friendly and capable staff. Highly recommended.. Try the mussels.. Yum!

Quick and friendly service...awesome! Great wine selection, tapas menu is great. If I have to offer a negative, it’s a bit noisy regardless of whether you sit inside or outside.

Small changes to the food and drinks options were awesome. The scallops were delicious, my wife raved about them for ages. Service super friendly and helpful. Thanks again for a great night.

Food was brilliant! And with friendly, fast service. Not sure what our favourite dish was but I have to say both prawn dishes are pretty darn special. And the polenta chips! My mouth is watering now just thinking about it all. 😀
