Tomodachi - Izakaya & Bar

Pretty useless service, waiters don’t know how to communicate properly. Bowls weren’t clean, had to use a napkin to clean up the dust, pretty disgusting. At the end, we went up to pay, and she asked “How was everything”, we kindly said something along the lines of “It wasn’t that great”, she didn’t even say anything, just smiled and continued to bill us. Ridicules how much it costed for very few things, wasn’t very good, the meat was pretty cold and disgusting, but the Tofu was great. Only reviewing because of the staff, they’re kind and oblivious and pathetic, good restaurant though. Also, what I’ve rated at the bottom, is 100% incorrect, it’s glitched out, can’t seem to change it, so ignore the numbers /6, instead I’ll write them below. Overall visit 3/6 Food 3/6 Atmosphere 4/6 Service 2/6 Value 1/6 Waiting times 4/6 (Food wasn’t that great though). Noise (If you go at a busy time, 3/6).

Fantastic food as always. Kitchen is very quick even when very busy. Delicious! Great place for dinner before seeing a show at GPAC. Love eating on Lt Malop Street.

We had The Lunch special Bento boxes. They were delicious. Lunch was served in a timely fashion & staff were polite. We got a window seat and got to watch the passing parade down Little Malop Street. This area is so vibrant. We will come back soon to try something else.

Had a fabulous meal with a wonderful friend. Menu is amazing. The food is even better!! Love the lotus chips. Will be back that’s for sure.

It's a tiny dining space, but the staff were attentive, the food was great. Good selection of dishes and plenty of drink options. Scallops were very good.

Brilliant food, catered well for vegans, best Japanese I have had in Geelong. Each dish was superbly prepared with care. Will definitely visit again when we are in town.

Found the food to be bland. Had 2 starters and 2 mains between my wife and I both of us agreed. Wont be back again.

A very good flavour-based experience. We booked online and when we arrived the service was prompt and friendly. Food arrived fast and fresh (advantage of as early Tuesday booking). We found the steel cafe stools for seating a little uncomfortable for settling in to a full meal after a tough day, but the food was great so forgiven.

Food was excellent, great flavours and quality. Tastes within each dish are well balanced. Service was also fantastic! Highly recommend and would happily eat here every week.

Our food took too long, the order was incorrect and then there was no attempt to fix the situation. Hopefully other customers have a better experience.

Fantastic food and service. Staff were very accommodating and nice. Gyoza and Lotus chips were my fave. Delicate, flavoursome food. Extensive drink menu and great vibe.

Overall occasion was excellent. Staff were knowledgeable, service was swift, food was of the highest quality and flavours were outstanding. It’s good to see at last an authentic Japanese dining experience in Geelong, at a price comparable to any other mid range night out.

The staff and food was excellent. My dining experience would have been better if we had more room and a larger table. You need to find a bigger space. We will return whenever we are in Geelong. Kind regards Deb

Good service overall. Food came promptly and all dishes we ordered were delicious. The three flavours of ice cream (green tea, houjicha, black sesame) were amazing, would definitely go back for more.

Delicious food, great and fast service, in an irresistibly cute little bar. You can’t go past the hot Yuzu citrus tea, it is refreshing, warming and palate cleansing all at once with a sweet kick.

Great menu, cosy atmosphere, attentive staff. We were here for a family dinner (teenagers and adults) and it was a perfect choice. Best for a quick bite rather than a leisurely dinner.

Beautiful Japanese food presented just as amazing. Attentive customer service, great range of tapas and flavours to try at a more than fair price. Great range of drinks including sake, cocktails, mocktails and Japanese beers. We loved our experience, the griled eggplant is a must, and of course the pork dumplings were brilliant. Cant wait to come back and try more.

Great izakaya experience. Very similar to being in Tokyo. Food was lovely and a great selection of beverages was available including sake and umeshu flights.

Small place in a street with some great cafes and wine bars, beautiful delicious food, attentive staff and highly recommend if you are ever in the Geelong
