On your way out to the coast along Henley Beach Road, why not get a taste of the true tropics at Yum Yai Thai KItchen’s Torrensville restaurant? This glowing oasis to delicate Southeast Asian spice is replete with lunch specials and an a la carte offering ideal for a romantic rendezvous or your next big celebratory dinner. Unique to Yum Yai Thai Kitchen is their selection of special dishes you won’t find anywhere else in Adelaide – a must for fans of Thai cuisine.
For a simple, affordable, aromatic and altogether-satisfying lunch in Adelaide’s Torrensville, many head straight to Yum Yai Thai Kitchen, a hotspot for fans of Thai and Southeast Asian food along Henley Beach Road. When noontide hunger hits, grab yourself a pad kra prao or pad nam prik pao, a cashew nut stir fry or a classic Thai curry (in your choice of colours – green or red). Add a Hahn Superdry or a James Boag’s beer for a few coins extra and you’re sorted. Until dinner.
Yum Yai Thai Kitchen’s major drawcard for those plumbing the depths of Adelaide’s Thai restaurant scene is undoubtedly its selection of signature dishes. The pad talay Thai puts a spin on the classic pad Thai with South Australian prawns and a secret blend of Southern flavours. The same ocean bounty makes it into the goong tong Thai, cooking prawns in Thai herbs, cashew nuts and tamarind sauce and serving the lot in a crispy fried basket (all edible!). Torrensville’s lucky to have Yum Yai Thai Kitchen at its service, and you could be counted among the elect too if you’d only go and book a table already.
Good food well presented and service was excellent we will return. Price of meals affordable, staff very friendly and restaurant very well kept. Thank youYum Yai
Great Thai food, beef curry and chicken Pad Thai, both served steaming hot, reasonable prices, meals were served quickly, will definitely be back, highly recommended
Good service friendly staff. Have eaten here twice and food was great both times. Food arrives promptly and dishes removed promptly when finished. Very hot day last time I went and it was cool inside and table water offered. Highly recommended
fantastic food, very tasty. Staff friendly and polite. Great to sit down for a meal without waitress hovering all the time - service was exactly right! Thank you
We both had a starter plate as we thought this would lend an insight into more than one dish. VERY POOR. Fish cakes were small thin bits of overcooked rubber we couldn't cut with the spoon we had. Prawn in crab cakes also like rubber and over-deep fried. Treasure pursed were nice, crisp on the outside and ok on the inside. As were the spring rolls, but the cabbage was the same length as the whole thing, you had to have sharp bites to sheer it off to get it into your mouth. Having said that, the service was excellent and the wine list very nice and reasonably extensive. But we did't try any of the other food so this is a little bit one sided. I believe in constructive criticism not complaints. So I hope someone enlightens their chef. The place was packed out, it was lunchtime on a Wednesday, so perhaps the non-fried food was much nicer.
We were able to book online for our group of eight people and pre-order, which was really appreciated, as it was a work lunch (farewell for a colleague), so we did not want to be sitting around waiting for a long time. The food was roundly described as tasty and well-priced and the lunch specials menu a nice bonus! We will definitely be back.
Beautiful food. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant is not noisy which created a relaxing ambience. We were a table of four and we each enjoyed our meals. The soups hit the spot on a cold day followed by Green and red curries. Yum! A lovely Sunday lunch. Thank you.
We went for dinner on a Friday evening fairly early so it wasn't very busy, but started to fill up during our meal service so it is best to book. The all female staff that evening were very helpful and attentive, we ordered tea with our meal and had the plate of mixed entrees followed by the chefs special rice dish, all the food was beautifully presented and fresh, will definitely be back
Yum Yai Thai Kitchen have excellent value lunch specials and good a selection of vegetarian dishes to choose from as well. Nice venue to catch up with friends.
Pleased with server's knowledge of which items were gluten free as I have Coeliac disease. Our entree was good, but could have used a bit of spice as it was bland, no doubt they just didn't use any soy sauce instead of the gluten free soy sauce the server indicated they had.
