Style, substance and a whole load of seafood come together at Claypots Evening Star. Melbourne is lucky to have this little hideaway, nestled on the corner of Cecil & York Street in South Melbourne and boasting some of the finest seafood in the city, despite technically being a bar. Some oceany, Mediterranean-inspired bar plates include: trevally ceviche, Galician anchovies and caramelised onion on toast, clams or lobster tail in a curious blackened sumac butter. There are also daily specials boards meaning each trip to Claypots Evening Star will be a little different to the last – and you will be returning, just like plenty of other loyal South Melbourne diners. The food is beautifully presented and there’s a host of European beer, too. Perfect.
