The $12 lunch is exceptionally good value, tasty and quick. We like the bento box so much we have never tried any of the other dishes.

Over all is good . Sashimi dishes are fresh and tasty and some dish is a bit salty . They give very good service .

Really friendly staff and excellent service. The food was generally quite good. Fish is really fresh, and the wafu steak is just decadent. The sushi rolls and agedashi tofu, however, was a bit disappointing compared to the rest of the menu.

Nice restaurant. Friendly staff and great that it is BYO. Good for a big group of friends. Service can be patchy at times. Worth a visit

The staff were very helpful and allowed me to choose from the full menu despite it being lunch time. One of my favourite Japanese Izakayas in Melbourne and I've eaten here a number of times.

Great Izakaya experience. We were recommended this place by a Japanese friend who told us it was a very authentic Izakaya and we couldn't agree more.

Good authentic Japanese food. Highly recommend the yukke. Some items are hit and miss, sushi could be fresher. Lovely service and cheap drinks, but beer selection.

Delicious food as always, however since it was very busy, it was hard getting the attention of the waitress. Still my fav jap place though!

Food was below average. No idea how this place got such high scores because it was terrible. Waitress also forgot our drinks. Will not be returning.

1 mistaken our order, and have to wait for longer time to reorder 2 gave other table's food to us 3 use frozen tuna for tuna sashimi.

A fantastic location with beautiful staff and amazing food.Would highly recommend for anyone who wants a nice night out.Everytime we travel to Melbourne we search this place out.

We we off to the movies and wished for a quick Japanese dinner before, excellent and friendly - quick service with friendly staff, great Japanese cuisine.

The place was filled to capacity . That food was very delicious . The service is generally ok , different people doing differently it's good and bad .

Amazing fusion of Japanese and modern cuisine in tapas sized dishes. Service was prompt even though the restaurant was busy. We'll be back again soon.

Great value lunch at $12 for the bento box. Corkage was $4.50 per person, which seems a lot but is about average. Service was simple but efficient.

This was our second visit, this time celebrating our wedding anniversary, and while the food was still delicious, the service let it down at bit this time. We were seated upstairs, in a squishy spot around the corner, and had been seated for over 20 minutes with no attention, and eventually had to catch someone's eye to ask for menus. Then we had to ask for water and glasses for our BYO wine. Our meals were ordered as entrees and mains, but were delivered in a quite random order. We received 2 entrees (sharing), and then our mains, and then had to ask where our other 2 entrees were, and they still took another 10 minutes or so. Food is delicious, but sloppy service took the shine off a special anniversary dinner.

Delicious food and great service! My friends and I all loved it. The lunch special was cheap and filling. We will definitely come back to try the dinner menu again soon :)

Delightful and authentic Japanese food. The ox tongue is a must! The sushi plates are great for sharing. Very accommodating service too. A great night out!

Great little Japanese restaurant. Bento boxes are lovely and filling with good choices. Would recommend particularly for lunch. Busy place so would recommend booking if you need to get in.

took 45 minutes to get two serves of una don. when we told that to the waitress, the table next to us said they've been waiting an hour, and left. when the food arrived, it was 4 slices of unagi and two bowls of rice. definitely not worth more than a 7 minute wait at best. when we asked for more wasabi, they still charged us an extra $1.50 for it, after almost an hour of waiting. and the fresh home made lemon tea? 35 minutes to serve up cold green tea with a dash of lemon. $4.00 never again.

Always good food and good choice of beers and sake. Ebi mayo and miso gyutan still rocking. They need to fix the toilets though, unpleasant sewer smell in it

Yummy! Food is always consistent, you can never go wrong with their sake on the special menu. This place is usually busy so it can be hard to get the staff's attention at times but I always enjoy the food each time I'm there.

Exceptional food, Flavours and quality were brilliant! Busy and bustling atmosphere with extensive menu. Very good value for money. Would definitely go again. Very enjoyable experience and easy to access from Parliament station

Delicious food at Izakaya Hachibeh, together with very friendly service. Prices are very reasonable too. Wine prices are also excellent. Our Japanese visitor was very impressed, and said the food was very authentic. Will definitely be back!

All 4 dishes my partner and I order - raw octopus with wasabi, grilled Saba, sashimi platter and tori karrage - were excellent. Top quality as I've eaten in Japanese restaurants all over Asia. Ingredients were fresh and pricing was good. Excellent experience. Will be back for sure.

The staff were very polite and friendly and the food is fantastic and plenty of it. This is my favourite lunchtime restaurant. Well done Izakaya !

The food was terrible - nearly every dish, either overcooked or poorly seasoned. The sushi was "fishy" and we couldnt eat it. The service was attentive which is a shame as the food let the place down. It was possibly the worst Japanese I have ever eaten both here and overseas.

Friendly staff, reasonable price and food was great. I really enjoy going there, it's a friendly atmosphere. They brought the food on time and food was excellent.

Izakayah hachibeh never disappoints. The food is delicious and consistently good. The service is wonderful, the ambience is nice and casual and the food is reasonably priced.
