Think of Greek cuisine and you’re probably thinking of charcoal-grilled meats, fresh seafood and mouthwatering mezze, and you’ll find all of this and more on the menu at this quaint Greek and Cypriot restaurant decked out with traditional blue and white table clothes. Start your day off with the Kafenio breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausage, grilled halloumi, tomato, toast and coffee), tuck into some Greek souvlaki or kleftiko, or if you’re feeling carnivorous, go for the mixed grill. Whether it's for breakfast, lunch or dinner, for a big, fat Greek feast in Brisbane’s West End, Kafenio is the place to go. You’ll find it located on Vulture Street, adjacent to West End’s Cypriot Club – book a table and head on over!
It's always a pleasure to dine here. Great service and wonderful food with best prices. Authentic greek food that keeps ypu coming back for more. Sad I couldn't make dessert last night as I was just too full.
Fabulous Greek/Cypriot cuisine. Very reasonable in price with a huge variety of traditional foods. Atmosphere was pleasant, staff were lovely. Great place to take family and friends.
Great food. Great service. Great day Would recommend it to anyone looking for a great atmosphere away from the busy city. Not expensive and a good variety of food
Sunday lunch - nice setting in older cottage - good atmosphere - excellent service - off street parking- and most importantly top food! - I was impressed- Kerry
We love the atmosphere at Kafenio, but maybe Sunday night is not the best time to visit. The lamb souvlaki was dry and we wondered if it was leftover from lunch. We thought the pita was normally freshly made, but it didn't seem that way on Sunday night. And our pita (dry bread, dry lamb) had no dressing at all. Not up to the quality we have had before. However the rosewater cream kataifi was wonderful.
We love Kafenio , it has great food and a relaxed casual atmosphere. The value for money is fabulous. The service is also always great.
The service was great. The restaurant does really have that real Greek feel about it. My only negative was the lamb and chicken on the platters appeared and tasted ok but was dry, liked kept on heat. I think booking in at early afternoon ( 4.30 ish) and seeing them fire up the bbq and heating the coals after receiving our meals concluded the meat not being freshly cooked as I was expecting.
Friendly family dining. Great food. Great value. It's always full of expat Cypriots which is a good sign. We always go for the lamb chops on the spit. Yum.
Hard to beat the charcoal grilled lamb. Great night out washed down with a very nice chilled Fiano from Crete. Friendly family service. We will be back.
Well worth a visit. We went on a wet day & was disappointed because we couldn't have the slow cooked lamb shoulder - wood too damp. Staff very friendly & helpful. Best haloumi.
