Serving fine Asian-fusion in Melbourne’s Docklands, Merchant Society has become one of the city’s go-to locations for a sophisticated meal right by the waterfront. Fusing Malaysian flavours into classic Chinese, Japanese and Thai specialities, the restaurant provides unique dishes that can’t be found just anywhere. Stop by for lunch specials like the kampong chicken with rice, the fish three ways or the mee rebus, noodles with prawns, calamari, noodles and a slightly thickened gravy. For dinner, we recommend the Merchant’s Choice, your choice of prawns, soft shell crabs, or calamari flash fried in tempura batter and tossed in a decadent sauce of butter and curry leaves. Vegetarian diners are in luck, with the Chinese broccoli with chilli garlic sauce and the vegetable fried rice both packing in a lot of bold flavour. Let Merchant Society take you to another world – book your experience in advance at this Merchant Street favourite.

Had a fabulous dinner once again at Merchant Society Restaurant. I think you’d describe the food as Asian Infusion, but there’s something for everyone on the menu. The servings are plentiful and Yvonne’s cocktails are a specialty! They take the Covid restrictions seriously so do book so you don’t miss out on great food and a really welcoming atmosphere.
Great friendly place Food terrific, staff excellent Good to see them back in business
Charles and the wonderful Team made us and our guests feel so welcome in spite of social distancing. You’ve not had a Mojito until you’ve had one made at Merchant Society! 🍹 The servings were not only substantial but the dishes were absolutely delicious 😋. My favourite is Singapore Noodles with chicken. Thank you Charles and the Team, we value and appreciate you💫. Lill and Brian
