About Pizzingrillo

Pizzingrillo is an Italian bar and restaurant with a difference, and that’s a thankful thing in Melbourne, a city brimming with Italian eateries. Styling itself as a spuntini bar, pizzeria and Italian kitchen, Pizzingrillo is well-known among Port Melbourne locals and renowned city-wide for its organic approach. If you order up an authentic and handmade Italian pasta dish like the spinach and ricotta cannelloni that spinach will be from Pizzingrillo’s own garden. If you order up the fritto misto with flathead tails, king prawns, calamari and gourmet salad, those leaves have been tended in Pizzingrillo’s own garden. If you encounter rocket, tomatoes, zucchini (and their flowers) and onions on one of this Bay Street standout’s pizzas – and seeing as we’re evidently deep into authentic Italian territory then it should come as no surprise – you can rest assured that they’re organic, garden-fresh, and grown and prepared with love.

A truly Italian restaurant. I've been there multiple times now and I've always found both the food and the service outstanding. The pizza dough is made in a genuine "Naples" style and cooked in wood-fire oven, the ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible and in Italy (such as prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, etc.). I've also tried pasta and gnocchi and I found them really good. Best place in the neighborhood for Italian food.

Usually always good traditional Italian food simplistic pizzas but very nice since that is the way that they are traditionally done
