Red Emperor - Southbank

Red Emperor is a great restaurant with a good location, fine food and excellent service. Perfect for a catch up with friends on a Melbourne summer night.

Rude waitress. Opted for AYCE for $75 per person and she refused to offer dishes until we have finished what on our table. Wonder if she would refuse if we were not on AYCE... Her job is to serve the customers not to decide who should get how much food when they have already paid for AYCE.

Waiters were attentive and service was good. Food was very good as well and typical of Cantonese cuisine

Food was amazing. Customer service was outstanding. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be first restaurant on my list when next visiting Melbourne.

Love our Yum Cha at the Red Emperor. The food is always very good. We had a lovely table at the terrace. The staff was nice.

I have been going for over 20 years. What has gone wrong ? The quality of the last 2 meals has been terrible. I will not come back. Clearly the compromise on the quality of food is the new standard

This was a booking for a meal before a concert. We had a look at their excellent website that allowed us to choose our meals during our train trip do as to not waste time. We were seated promptly and ordered. Our meals arrived promptly and were delicious. My wife in particular an excellent cook os usually quite hard when judging restaurant meals was very pleased with both the taste but the price as well. We were both very happy.

very high quality food. the prawn sping rolls are out of this world. the prawns are plentiful and the pastry is thin and crisp.the mandarin chicken is absolutely fantastic, tasty, the chicken sauce is superb and the san choy bau is very delicious.

as a vegan, I had a great number of choices and the food was great.

The staff were very welcoming and were especially helpful to cater to some of our dietary restrictions. We had a lovely get together with our family over lunch.

It was a bit too cold out on the riverside for some of the group but I had requested seating there so no error on restaurant side. I just remembered it being warmer there in the past in winter. I'll book inside in winter in future.

It was great, just a bit hard to get a waiter and then when I did, I felt rushed.

We had an amazing dinner. We didn’t want to rush and they were very accommodating. Magnificent stuffed scallops and crispy skin duck. Excellent service. Perfect night out.

We were offered a room on the enclosed balcony with a nice view over the river. We had the yum cha, with a selection of tasty and temptingly presented food. Highly recommended!

Red Emperor is a wonderful restaurant, it's no wonder they have been open for as long as it has. Food is fresh and delicious. Old school impeccable service, something that has been lost in the running of many other restaurants but not at Red Emperor. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our banquet and look forward to visiting again soon.

7 of us attending Lions International Convention went to Red Emperor. It was a great night. Waiter Andy was attentive and very helpful as were all the wait staff who attended our table.

I went to the Red Emperor after approximately 12 years and the food, service, ambience has not changed. Nothing to fault and hoping to go back for Yum Cha in the future!
