Tucked away within a Sydney CBD building arcade you’ll find Sakuratei Japanese Restaurant, an atmospheric sake and kushi bar. This charming eatery specialises in kushi skewers, a moreish food which is hugely popular in Japanese izakayas. Both grilled yakitori and deep-fried kushiage are available on the menu, as is sushi, sashimi, hotpot and donburi. The menu stays true to izakaya-style dining in offering food which is perfect alongside a few drinks and Sakuratei thankfully serve quite the selection. Their drinks list includes sake, plum wine, shochu, beer and chuhai – so we recommend arriving at this Sydney restaurant with a group looking to have some fun. Whether you're with mates, colleagues or the family, the dining vibe is friendly and casual. Located on Clarence Street in the Sydney CBD, Sakuratei also boasts a stellar rooftop terrace for outdoor dining.

Get a table before they're gone
Food was very good and of highest quality. Staff are nice however having a hard time to communicate with them
The service is super slow, and had to wave/call the staff members at least three four times to get the empty dishes and drink ware move away. The table next to us is super noisy and loud. The food is overpriced, and at the end they even got the bill wrong! Don’t think we are going back again. A very disappointing experience.
Delicious flavours in all the dishes we had. And the staff & chef were also lovely
