Food was amazing but service was very slow, and staff kept forgetting orders.

We were a party of eight and were originally seated in the back section, however the heating did not reach there and we were a little cold. The staff were super helpful and moved us into the front section once there was a free table. The food was excellent and prompt and not badly priced if you are going to share a few things. Will be returning for sure, will just bring a jacket!

Food and staff are great, Shame it’s so cold in there! Had to wear my coat throughout the meal.

The food was absolutely delicious. Quite traditional Japanese dishes but all done to perfection with lovely flavours and textures. Nice atmosphere inside which was busy but not noisy. Service attentive and quick - we were dining with kids and so we were glad we didn’t have to wait.

The food here is absolutely delicious which is why we keep coming back. Service was excellent and very attentive. I really like the atmosphere - busy but not too noisy that we struggle to hear each other talking.

This is the second time I have been and it is by far the best Japanese outside Japan

Seating ok, expected seating arrangements to be a bit better as I booked 2 days prior and was expecting a table at the front of restaurant, not the large shared one. Food all good except the spicy chicken karaage was very dry and mostly batter, hardly any chicken. Have eaten at this restaurant many times so this was my first slightly negative eating experience but still happy overall

I booked this restaurant for my Birthday and despite some issues with the booking system we turned up and were given the only large table (at the back). The restaurant is cold and the back table has a strong cold draft coming from the back door. The floor was littered with chopsticks and napkins from the last day before. We ordered our food which took forever to come out and only turned up one or two plates at a time. At the same time heaps of Uber Eats orders were coming in and going out. The food is very tasty but a lot of our order was not provided and we ended up cancelling some food and leaving. This is the second time we have been to Shinwa and the last time was similar so we will not be going again.

Have been here a number of times. Food is very good. Matcha cheesecake and green tea ice cream was fab!

Enjoyable lots of options and drinks. A little expensive but quality meat, seafood, vegetables and drinks served.

Beautiful food, every dish we ordered was delicious. Combination of flavours were exciting. Great selection of unique Japanese drinks as well. I would recommend lychee cider and yuzu fruit wine.

I have been to Shinwa many times and the service is always perfect and the food always amazing.

Food was cold ,even the udon noodle wasn’t steaming hot, just warm. We ordered hot stone grill but there was no steam when they bring it over

Delicious tasty food great service friendly staff Worth the visit

We generally LOVE this place. Decided to go here for Valentines Dinner. We were given our menus and our Entree order was taken reasonably quick. After ordering my first drink, I recieved it at my table. The drink barely contained any Midori in my Japanese Slipper and just a lemon taste. I notified the waitress if it was possible to have another drink. She obliged and ordered me a new drink...... the first problem was it took 25 minutes to get a new drink. The waitress’ were running up and down the resturant because they were either so busy or seriously understaffed. I smiled, because it was Valentines and I was happy sitting and waiting and thought it’s fine they’re busy. 2 of our main meals came out and I was still waiting for my drink.. whilst I continued to watch Uber orders and takeaway orders fly out the door. After we finished two of our meals just at the end I recieved my drink. It was fine it came with a pink two straw to share with my loved one. We ordered a coco cola for my partner - this took approx 15 minites to recieved (no exaggeration) I got over it. Next, I wanted to order another meal and tried to get the waitress attention but she was too busy running around the resturant like a headless chook. When I finally got her attention it was too late we waited another 15 mins - we got the bill and left and got pizza on our way home. Thanks.

My favorite Japanese in Melbourne. So fresh and delicious, topped off with friendly service and a beautiful interia. I have lost count how many times I have been here, but I know there will definitely be more!

Sashimi is slightly overpriced, not as thick as I hoped but the food quality is good. Feels a bit understaffed as the service is quite slow during peak hours at 7pm

The food was very good and we liked the restaurant setting. The service was nice and efficient. We will definitely come back to enjoy this lovely taste of Japan.
