Great atmosphere, menu and service. We had a really good night!
Very busy for lunch, but expected at this time of year - had the salad and added chicken - great food, a bit pricey for a few strips of chicken and salad. $30. Perhaps consider only adding $4 for chicken - an extremely expensive salad
22/11 Our group of 9 had a fun evening. The food was great and the Hostess on duty was very professional polite and welcoming! Thanks!
Nice atmosphere, good service, delicious food and trendy decor. Highly recommended!
It was the first time we visited this establishment after having driven past it numerous times as I live close by. I often wondered what it was so suggested to my partner that we give i a try for something different & we both loved it. We started out at ESS the rooftop for a pre-dinner drink @ members prices followed by dinner downstairs in the bistro. The waitress offered us a choice of table for two or train carriage- si we decided to try the latter and thoroughly enjoyed & would highly recommend this option for either a couple or a group. Food was delicious and service was good, we’ll definitely come back and have already recommended the venue to loads of family and friends! Only drawback was the lack of parking but next time we’ll probably take the Metro from North Ryde, very convenient.
Had a girls night at Ess, the rooftop bar at The Governor Hotel, last night. What a great spot. Very spacious with many different seating areas to suit your mood. Lovely atmosphere and nice to watch the sunset over the tree tops. Wednesday is Ladies' Night and we enjoyed our $9 cocktails and $1 dumplings plus the chicken nachos and pizza were good too. Very friendly, accommodating barman and staff. Can't fault it. Definitely coming back.
It was Fathers Day and we were sat on the rooftop, meaning we didn’t have access to the regular bistro menu or kids manus. Some consideration for the day would have improved the situation, including kids entertainment on the rooftop and a change of menu for the day. I asked the staff questions about this to which I only got “no’s” and “sorry” about. I walked in expecting to be seated inside, and the host said we could move there if we wanted to, but he suggested it would be busy and the rooftop was a good alternative. In fact, it was a terrible alternative and I walked away disappointed in Fathers Day. When asking the staff about what came with some meals, they needed to leave me to ask the chef, so clearly no one had a clue about the menu. I understand it’s a new establishment, but clearly more training and knowledge is required. The whole experience was poor, but I can see potential. Just don’t use the Rooftop for family events.. totally doesn’t cater for families. We visited the bistro as we were leaving and we all commented on what could have been a better Father’s Day lunch 😔
Hi there We have dined in the restaurant several times now but found our last visit disappointing. The lack of parking is an issue, especially with elderly people in our group. Not sure why the buses need such an enormous area for parking up to 8pm when there is a designated bus bay for them to drive into across from your driveway. 1 person serving at the bar, when people are queuing and you have several floor staff walking around that could have helped the barman wasn't ideal for everyone waiting for a drink, and the noise levels were very high in the restaurant, so much so that we left straight after our meal as we couldn't hear each other talking. Hopefully you can address the noise levels as it's becoming difficult to find places to eat out at that are not noisy, with so many hard surfaces. Thanks for the opportunity to send this feedback and sorry I don't want to sound like a whinger , especially as you have such a fabulous venue, but I hope you find this feedback helpful . Kind regards Miff cheers miff
Great atmosphere and friendly service. The meal was enjoyable also and our meals came out quite quickly. When we arrived it wasn't as busy but it got busy towards the end of our time there. Obviously a popular local for a lot of people in the area. The downsides of this venue is that there is limited parking available. In addition to this, I had the chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce but there was not enough sauce so the schnitzel seemed dry. I think the size of the sauce pot should be larger (it is an extra $3 and not worth it at the moment).
Nice furnishings, lots of room, the tables are far enough apart that they offer better privacy than most places. Very nice atmosphere and well maintained. The scotch fillet was medium rare, as requested, but lacked a little flavour. The Jus sauce option worked very with the steak. The chips were very good. I had the chocolate brownie dessert, which was very well presented, and while initially I thought lacked a little flavour, the more I ate the more the flavour revealed itself. The staff set a higher standard than I had expected, and overall it was a very pleasant experience
