Service was fast and food was served promptly. 10% public holiday surcharge seems a bit surprising considering we were the only table for the hour we were there.

Great service, friendly and helpful with the menu & the food was fresh and delicious and great value for money. Can’t wait to go back already.

Excellent food, super lovely service, what a cracker of a place, as first timers we were unsure of what to eat so we went for the feed me option and would highly recommend

Delicious! Everything from the raw to fish the crunchy salad was amazing. Service was friendly and attentive. On,y downside was the batter on the tempura which was too heavy - more like you would expect on fish and chips than in a Japanese restaurant.

Nice atmosphere, great food, great service. Will definitely come back. The price is a bit out there but the quality of food compensates it. Great place to catch up with friends and family.

Been back for the 5th time, this time with new people who absolutely loved the food and service. Because its a smaller venue, they felt cosier dining in. Will come back again soon!

Fusion and lighter flavor than traditional Japanese cuisine. I had Reman salad with house dressing such a perfect choice for summer. Overall, the quality of food is good and fresh.

Great variety of food and all were very delicious. Crispy salad and oshi sushi is highly recommended. Staff were friendly and attentive. Modern Eatery never disappoints <3

Such amazing service! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome. The food was incredibly delicious and quick to come out. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Quite simply the dishes were outstanding. Fresh produce, beautifully cooked and presented. We had the large samurai mixed plate to share then a number of other dishes - all very tasty. Service excellent too.

This is our new favourite place. Food is outstanding, service is excellent and it's byo. Haven't tried the Freo one but have heard it's just as good. Recommend the crunchy salad, Miyazaki chicken & the Wagyu in truffle. Superb!

The food is yummy and reasonably priced. Try the sushi platter, it is well worth it. I don't like the udon. Otherwise, I recommend this restaurant anytime!

Food was nice. Would've preferred if they brought out the sashimi dishes first than the deep friend dishes. Restaurant décor was a bit bare. Service was relatively good.

We have been to the Modern Eatery (both Mt Lawley and Fremantle) a number of times and the food and service are amazing every time. The Salmon Oshi is so good!

Food was super yum! Not the cheapest bit fresh and cooked to order. Staff very lovely and polite. Menu is is a bit confusing to non Japanese speakers and hard to know how much to order but they seem to know that and explain it well. I wish the toilets were a bit closer.

Quality wise- it’s better at freo! Quality can be pretty inconsistent here. First salad came out with too little sauce, second had more. The rice itself wasn’t as soft and possibly even less mirin flavour compared to the freo one.

Great service, excellent food ! Went for a birthday lunch celebration with friends and they made it extremely special. Will definitely come back again soon.

BYO, friendly and helpful staff. Every dish was a delight. Great little Mount Fuji lava cake dessert. Can’t wait to go back and try the craft rolls.
