About The Taste of Village

Sit down at The Taste of Village on Liverpool Road and it won’t be long before you realise that you are not in your standard Sydney Indian restaurant. First of all, there is the decor – beautiful exposed brick walls, dim candles and rustic wooden tables create an atmosphere all at once cosy, refined and casual. Then you have the impressive bar, stocked with a slew of top-shelf spirits, refreshing beers and an array of wines from around the world. Finally – though most importantly – the food on offer is more beautifully presented and covers a broader scope than Burwood’s other Indian restaurants. Taking inspiration (for the menu as well as the restaurant name) from traditional dishes and ancient techniques from villages across India, The Taste of Village has several unique specialties (the three leaf beef curry and hot tandoori whole snapper are a few favourites) to complement their refined versions of more familiar Indian meals like palak paneer, vindaloo and Kashmiri rogan josh.

We're always remembered by staff as we enter who give service with a smile. Staff know their dishes when we have questions and they seem genuinely interested to ensure our experience is enjoyable. Food is excellent, and my favourite, goat on the bone, is always 10 out of 10! Price-point is very reasonable for the quality.

The food was prepared to perfection. The food was flavoursome and I could not recommend this restaurant enough. We will return. Service and attention to detail was impeccable.
