Oh, To Be Thai, what a joy you are. Thai food is all about fresh ingredients and simple preparation, exactly the ethos at To Be Thai, one of Brisbane’s best grazing spots. Right in the middle of New Farm on Merthyr Road, this charming little restaurant nails the basics of Thai cooking and the result is one heck of an exciting menu. Chef’s recommendations include soft shell salt & pepper crab, stir-fried kailan duck and the To Be Thai speciality crispy chicken with a tamarind sauce. You can choose from a whole load of traditional Thai soups and salads but whatever you decide, and here’s our top tip, order a side of coconut rice – it’s really quite nice. To Be Thai is well known in New Farm, so do book a table in advance. You’re welcome.

Becoming my favourite Thai restaurant. Good food and centrally located, pleasant service all around great experience.
Pleasant location, good vegetarian options. For me the food was a little too spicy but that's a matter of personal taste.
The restaurant has been done up since our last visit. The food has always been good and it is nice to have a breeze coming in on a hot night. BYO wine for us is always a draw card.
