Occupying a prime position overlooking the Ashgrove Golf Course links, Zegatos Steak and Pasta Cafe epitomises dining out with modern Australian cuisine in the leafy Brisbane suburb of The Gap. Very much a family-friendly restaurant, kids eat free at Zegatos from Tuesday to Thursday between 5pm and 7pm, and it’s also the obvious choice for a meal before or after a round of golf. Chef Tony Davis is famed for his steakhouse specialties – slow-cooked beef ribs, MSA steaks – but also the weekday family specials like Wednesday’s affordable pasta night (go for the sand crab ravioli), discounted rump steaks on Tuesdays, and cheap-as-chips gourmet pizzas fired up in the traditional oven on Thursdays. Located on Waterworks Road but secluded and peaceful, Zegatos serves Ashgrove and The Gap locals well – be sure to book.
