The country hotel is an Australian icon, with a tradition in the country that goes back to the days of the First Fleet, who presumably turned up asking for a schooner and a cut lunch as soon as they arrived. The Balhannah Hotel stands in this heritage, but their menu takes in the diversity and depth of modern Australia. Aussie classics are on offer at the Balhannah Hotel on Onkaparinga Valley Road – John Dory & chips, chicken schnitzel, lamb’s fry with bacon – as well as plenty of international specialities such as Greek lamb burger, Spanish-style garlic prawns and a sharing plate of stuffed peppers, koftes, chicken liver pate and more. You can find the hotel on Onkaparinga Valley Road in the Adelaide outskirts district of Balhannah, deep in the Adelaide Hills – so book a table now and make the journey out for a superb Aussie feed at the Balhannah Hotel.
Great service and great food - well presented. Attentive staff and easy to hear everyone talking at the table. A good range of cider to choose from too. One of the best pubs in the hills.
We really loved the food and will go back again soon. The food was not too heavy or fatty and cooked just right with lovely side dished to choose from.
Excellent fish and chips, gnocchi were tender and tasty. Draught coming under the door on this fine October day (middle of storm!) was fresh until my friend discovered the sausage dog had been shifted. Once we popped it back in place we were comfy. Great service.
