This is one of the best Indian restaurants in Melbourne. We tried Sime chats, Tandoori Prawns, Goat Biriyani, Goat Curry, Tandoori Pomfret and Raas Malai. We loved it all, they were flavourful, tasty and cooked to the perfection. The service was delightful and the place had a very nice vive. I have tried their Tandoori Pomfret already a few time now and can't recommend enough for a fish lover.

The aroma of traditional Tandoor cuisine floating down Bay St lures you in to an unexpected treat. The standard of food at Bombay on Bay is top class with Tandoor oven roasted lamb cutlet and the kadai chicken two of their signature dishes and my personal favourites. There are some usual dishes on the menu but they are cooked in the traditional way making it a popular desitination among our Indian community. The mince-filled keema naan is another favourite, if you can fit it in with the generous portions making it great value for money, let alone the standard of the food. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a top quality Indian cuisine experience.

Have dined here a few times, and the food is always excellent and consistently good.

The food was excellent as was the service, however, the location was very noisy and we were seated close to the door. There was a lot of take away orders and the door was often opened and left open. As the weather was cold and windy we had a rather uncomfortable evening.

It was a great time. We tried there Aloo Chat, Amritsari fish and Mutton Biryani. All the items were amazing. Kudos! to the team and the chef.

The Indian food was the best we have eaten in Melbourne and in Australia. It is truly authentic with large portions and very friendly staff. The food was received quickly after the order was placed and all the staff were very helpful and obliging. The taste of every dish was like eating in Bombay, India!! The PAN Kulfi is out of this world. The decor of the restaurant has typical Indian Art not seen in other Indian restaurants. Truly a magical evening.

So fortunate to have this lovely restaurant with kind staff nearby. Delicious 😋 Indian cuisine, never disappoints. Thank you!

We visited this restaurant as a group of four and had a fantastic experience. We started with the Amritsari Fish and Paneer Tikka—both were flavorful and perfectly cooked. For the main course, we had Chicken Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta, and Veg Biryani, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food was rich in taste, well-spiced, and served fresh. Definitely a great spot for quality Indian food!

I recently dined at Bombay on Bay to celebrate my anniversary. We started with drinks, which were good, but nothing particularly special. For the entrée, we ordered the Amritsari Fish, which was flavorful and well-seasoned. For the main course, we had Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, and Chicken Biryani. The Chicken Tikka Masala had a rich sauce with a nice balance of spice. The Chicken Biryani was fragrant and well-spiced. One disappointing aspect was that I had mentioned in the reservation notes that we were celebrating our anniversary, but the restaurant didn’t acknowledge it in any way. Overall, the food was good. If you're looking for solid Indian cuisine, it’s worth a visit, but don’t expect much in terms of personalized service.
