Great food and service. Very reasonably priced too. Great beer garden kept warm during winter months so don’t let the weather put you off sitting in the beer garden at night. Very pleasant and not cold at all considering it was freezing outside the night we went. Well done to the British. We will be back for sure xxx

The food was excellent. The wine we had was very good, but they did not have a bottle of the wine we wanted on their menu. This did not detract from a great night for all twelve guests.

When we first got there the waitress was quite rude to us and did not smile. After that we didn't see her and all other staff where great, friendly and polite.

Hi - I booked a table for 3 on Sunday 7th April. We enjoyed our meal, however there was a big table next to ours with a screaming child which made it hard to hear, but we understand there is not much you can do with a screaming child unless the parent takes them outside for a walk. Also we had one waitress who was rather 'slap dash' in her approach to things. She lacked the finer skills of being a waitress - knocking/bumping us as she put down the food, her manner was abrupt and very unpleasant, however the other waitresses and guy were really good. I had the warm lamb salad and really enjoyed it, my husband had the steak but said he asked for a medium cooked steak but when he got it he found it to be very rare and therefore he did not enjoy it as much. I hope you appreciate our honesty. Its a great spot to have a Sunday lunch.

Went for lunch on a Sunday. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend going there again.

We have often dined at the British and it seems to have improved since ownership changed hands. Maybe It was time for the previous owner to pass the baton as he was a bit tired!

My meal (pork) was really nice, but my friend’s was very small for a main (gnocchi). It took ages to be served, we had to ask for bread, and we skipped dessert because they just never came back to take our order. Bit disappointing.

My companion and I visit the British Hotel every time I am in Adelaide as our four times great grand father owned the hotel in the 1840s. We always enjoy good food, wine and service and today was no exception. We had a very good shared tapas platter and were thoroughly enjoying ourselves when I suddenly I had a fainting episode. The staff were marvellous. I can't thank thank them enough for their kindness. In any case, I strongly recommend the British Hotel for its food, service and ambience.

have been here many times..this time we had the share platter.. also had buffalo wings on the side..that was nice..think the share platter could had been a little better we feel... lamb spring rolls wasnt a favourite,feel like it could had been like the old menu with meat balls..also perhaps 3 arancini balls instead of 2 would look a bit better on the platter.

First time diner at this establishment, I would recommend the food and the ambiance in the dining room. The only disappointment was the lack of interest or enthusiasm of the waiting staff. One in particular was just going through the motions. We waited a long time to be offered drinks, one of actually got up from the table and went to check if we had to go to the bar to order. Even after that we still waited a while. It wasn’t even busy. A diner at a mother table accidentally knocked over a drink, we heard it so I imagine the wait staff did as well. No one went to help them mop up the table. Definitely room for Improvement.

The quality and presentation of food was impeccable, service was super friendly and the waitress went head over heels to ensure all dietary requirements were met. This will be our new favourite pub delivering more than your ordinary pub meal. Exactly what we were seeking for over a casual Friday evening catch up with the girls! We will definately be back! Food was fantastic we all enjoyed our meals. The staff were awesome. Really helpful and friendly. The only problem was it was noisy but to be fair there was a birthday celebration at the next table

The food was good but the menu is a bit limited and on the pricey end for a pub. Excellent service and nice and relaxing setting

It is a great pub, I'd go there for a typical pub meal as I felt the atmosphere was better in the main pub/bar areas.

We attended the restaurant on New Year's eve which we also did the previous year, along with visiting the British at other times when we visit Adelaide. The staff were very attentive on the evening and our meals were photo worthy (I posted them on facebook and received a lot of comments as to how good the food looked, they were delicious (compliments to the kitchen staff).

Love the food, always top quality and delicious! Never had any issues here, it’s always a winner!

This local pub used to be fabulous but the service during my recent visit was appalling. No wonder it was so quiet on a Friday night. Such a shame as simple changes and training staff would make all the difference.
