Carmine And Co

I have been fortunate enough to dine at Carmine twice now. The staff are superb. The restaurant smells amazing as you walk through the doors. That heady garlic and tomato and pizza aroma that makes your mouth water. Importantly for us Carmine is easy access for those in a wheelchair too. The food. Wow. By far the best cabonara I have ever had. Polpette is excellent. Swordfish too. Lamb rack is to die for. Probably technically overcooked, but over cooked in that particularly Italian nonnas way that makes you think that is in fact how it should be cooked. Arancini balls are good, but a long way from the flavour level of the other dishes. The Zeppoli Alla Strega desert, basically a doughnut with ice cream and strega sauce, is sublime. Although I think I enjoyed it more the second time round without the sauce that seems to add a lovely flavour that the dish benefits from, but winds back the crunchy doughnut exterior that the dish simply cant do without. A fabulous retaurant experience. I will be going back to a 3rd, 4th and 5th time hopefully!

Service non existent- 35 degree night - sat waiting for 20 mins without even offered a bottle of water for our table let alone a drink- didn’t stay walked out and ate elsewhere.

The food was good however the service was rubbish. Went there for our wedding anniversary (2 people) they couldn’t manage to bring our mains or our deserts out together. The waitress dropped cutlery and nearly dropped my coffee, it’s a nice place however the noise level in the restaurant is terrible.

Poor service - surprised from booking that we did not have a table allocated to us. Slow service re water and wine glasses followed by a lengthy wait to order our food.

One of our favourite restaurants, love the food and atmosphere. The service could be better, it was hard to get the attention of anyone to order more drinks or ask any questions, but was still a great night.

Having not been to Carmine and Co in years, I am incredibly happy to say that they still remain one of the best restaurants in all of Port Adelaide. The atmosphere was great all around, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Overall I was happy to have visited the restaurant with my mother for a nice birthday dinner for myself. Highly recommend.
