Green Gourmet - Newtown

The buffet offered lots of great vegan options and you pay by weight so you don't feel obliged to eat more than you want/need as can happen is regular buffets. It is very inexpensive. The food could have been hotter but I think we came later than most people.

I organised a group lunch at Green Gourmet for 15 people. Perfect venue for group functions, as it is spacious and they can put tables together. Great to share food on the lazy susan. Very happy with the venue. The food is cheap and cheerful. The dumplings and buns were all handmade. The Cha Siu Bao is the item to try for first timers. The bun is made of wheat flour, yet still light and fluffy. Other must have item is the shantung ‘chicken’. Reminds me of the real dish, except way healthier with the vegetables and mock chicken. The addition of the pickled cabbage brought the dish to the next level. Well done to the chef who perfected this recipe! Overall, good experience for the group and would recommend to others.

We ate the buffet & the food was fantastic. I'm new to vegan/vegetarian so I really enjoy the 'fake' meats rather than just plates full of vegies, & Green Gourmet cook some fantastic dishes using different versions of the fake meats. And good prices, too!

3 adults and 2 children and we all enjoyed our food. Friendly stuff And service was quick, perfect when you have young children. Will return again.

We visited specifically for the dim sum and we were not disappointed. Try the chicken satay and the “prawn” dumplings, I had to order seconds. Brilliant service too, we will come back!!

Awesome vegan Asian variety of food, including steamed buns. Very fresh and tasty. Great selection of sweets and cakes to choose from as well ( not part of the buffet ). We chose the buffet option and cake. Earl Grey cake was amazing - infused with tea flavours and flowers. Wonderful homely non pretentious atmosphere with chilled out diners and even a resident cat who seems very clean and content. As a buffet, it is a little on the pricey side at $14.90 per half kilo of food as this is to discourage waste , however there are also options to order from the menu as well and the buffet is a good option for a tasting plate between 2 or more for example. Well worth going to and definitely would return again for sure. Would make a great impression on someone who was not used to good Asian vegan food as well as the hardcore vegan foodies. A delight.

Absolutely ecstatic to be able to eat absolutely everything on the menu, completely spoilt for choice! I'll be coming back here again and again to make sure I get to try everything I want.

This was my first time and definitely not the last! Excellent food, excellent service and very comfortable atmosphere. This will be a birthday I never forget, especially because the cake they have there is amazing too! ☺️😍🥳
